Notice Under the Regulations Act 1936
PURSUANT to the Regulations Act 1936, notice is hereby given of the making of regulations as under:-

Rabbit Nuisance Act 1928 Rabbit Destruction Regulations 1949, Amendment No. 14 1953/32 24/3/52 2d.

Board of Trade Notice No. 52-Public Inquiry into Import Duties on Toilet Preparations
- The Board of Trade proposes to inquire into and report upon the question of what rates of import duty should be imposed under Tariff Item 262 which reads as follows: 'Toilet Preparations, and perfumery, n.e.i., including perfumed oil'.
The present rates of import duty are:-
British Preferential: 25%.
Australian Agreement: 35%.
Most Favoured Nation: 50%.
General: 55% plus surtax at the rate of nine-fortieths of the amount of duty. - For the purpose of taking evidence on the review of this tariff item, the Board will hold a public inquiry commencing on Tuesday, 21 July 1953, at 10.30 a.m., in the Board Room, First Floor, Departmental Buildings, Stout Street, Wellington.
- Any person who intends to tender evidence should comply with the notes for the guidance of witnesses which have been approved by the Board. A copy of these notes may be obtained from the office of any Collector of Customs or from the undersigned.
- A typewritten statement of the evidence to be tendered, compiled in accordance with these notes of guidance, should be lodged with the undersigned on or before Tuesday, 7 July 1953. Each statement will, in general, need to be read under oath at the public inquiry by the person tendering it.

Notice to Persons Affected by Applications for Licences Under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act 1936
Pharmacy Industry
Hutt Valley Consumers’ Co-operative Society, Limited, Seddon Street, Lower Hutt, has applied for a licence to operate a new pharmacy at the corner of Rata and Fleet Streets, Lower Hutt.
Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit
Mutual Rental Cars (Nelson), Ltd., Achilles Avenue, Nelson, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on premises at Achilles Avenue, Nelson, for use in the company's own rental vehicles.
B. R. Marsh and R. J. Phillips, Mount Smart Garage and Service Station, 267 Mount Smart Road, Onehunga, Auckland, have applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed at garage and service-station premises at 267 Mount Smart Road, Onehunga, Auckland.
Greymouth Motors, Ltd., Hokitika, has applied for permission to change the retail selling point of three pumps from present premises in Hampden Street, Hokitika, to new premises in Tancred Street, Hokitika.
Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than 9 April 1953, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender. All communications should be addressed to Secretary, Bureau of Industry, C.P.O. Box 2492, Wellington.

The Standards Act 1941-Draft New Zealand Standard Specification-No. D. 4308: Overhead-line Connector-boxes
NOTICE is hereby given that the above draft New Zealand Standard Specification is now being circulated to affected interests for consideration and comment. The closing date fixed for such comment is 30 April 1953.
All persons who may be affected by this specification once it has been declared a Standard Specification by the Minister of Industries and Commerce may, at any time before the closing date for comments, obtain, on application, free copies from the New Zealand Standards Institute, Hamilton Chambers, 201 Lambton Quay (P.O. Box 195), Wellington, so as to have an opportunity to consider the draft and to comment thereon to the Standards Council or to an appropriate committee of the Council in accordance with subsection (3) of section 8 of the Standards Act 1941.
