Restricted Introduction of Soil, Sand, Clay, or Earth (Notice No. Ag. 5318)
PURSUANT to regulation 7 of the Plant Quarantine Regulations 1952, the Acting Director of the Horticulture Division of the Department of Agriculture hereby consents to the introduction into New Zealand of soil, sand, clay, or earth for the purposes and subject to the conditions following, namely :—
(1) For processing or manufacture—e.g., for use in ceramics, moulding, &c.
(2) For scientific purposes—e.g., soil analysis.
(3) Clean sand used as ballast for aircraft provided that such sand is landed and stored on the airport of entry under the supervision and to the satisfaction of a Plant Quarantine Officer. Such sand may be used as ballast for aircraft departing from New Zealand.
(4) Soil, sand, clay, or earth used as ballast for vessels provided that it is either discharged into the sea or landed under the supervision of a Plant Quarantine Officer and deposited at such place as he shall appoint.
(5) This consent shall take effect on the 26th day of September 1952.
