NOTICE is hereby given in pursuance of the Regulations Act 1936 of the making of regulations as under:

Price Order No. 1407 (Australian Potatoes)
PURSUANT to the Control of Prices Act 1947, the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, hereby makes the following Price Order:-
- This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 1407, and shall come into force on the 5th day of September 1952.
- Price Orders No. 1398* and 1400† are hereby revoked.
APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER
- This Order applies with respect to all potatoes imported into New Zealand from Australia and sold by way of retail.
FIXING MAXIMUM RETAIL PRICES OF POTATOES TO WHICH THIS ORDER APPLIES
- The maximum price that may be charged or received for any potatoes to which this Order applies that are sold by way of retail shall be determined as follows:-
North Island
(a) Where the potatoes are sold by any retailer whose place of business is situate within a radius of twenty miles from the principal post-office at Wellington or New Plymouth, the maximum price shall be 5½d. per pound.
(b) Where the potatoes are sold by any retailer whose place of business is situate within a radius of twenty miles from the principal post-office at Auckland or elsewhere in the land districts of Wellington, Taranaki, Hawke's Bay, or Gisborne than at one of the places specified in paragraph (a) hereof the maximum price shall be 6d. per pound.
(c) Where the potatoes are sold by any retailer whose place of business is situate elsewhere in the land districts of Auckland or North Auckland than at one of the places specified in paragraph (b) hereof the maximum price shall be 6¼d. per pound.
South Island
(d) Where the potatoes are sold by any retailer whose place of business is situate in the land district of Nelson or within a radius of twenty miles from the principal post-office at Christchurch or Dunedin, the maximum price shall be 6d. per pound.
(e) Where the potatoes are sold by any retailer whose place of business is situate elsewhere in the South Island than at one of the places specified in paragraph (d) hereof the maximum price shall be 6½d. per pound.
DUTY IMPOSED ON RETAILERS
- Every retailer who offers or exposes any potatoes to which this Order applies for sale in any shop shall keep in a prominent position in such proximity to the potatoes to which it relates as to be obviously descriptive thereof a ticket, placard, or label on which shall be stated in legible and prominent characters the word "Australian" and the retail price per pound.

Revoking a Notice Declaring Land to be Subject to Part I of the Maori Land Amendment Act 1936, Tuparoa Development Scheme
Pursuant to section 4 of the Maori Land Amendment Act 1936, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby revokes a notice made on the 13th day of June 1939 and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 45 of the 15th day of June 1939, at page 1838, whereby the land described in the Schedule hereto was declared to be subject to Part I of the said Act.
SCHEDULE
ALL that land in the Tairawhiti Maori Land Court District, situate in Block III, Mata Survey District, and known as the Puhunga A 4B Block, containing 65 acres 1 rood 14 perches, more or less.

THE following notice, received by the Right Hon. the Minister of Finance from the Mayor of the City of Palmerston North, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act 1926.

OPERA HOUSE LOAN, 1952 £53,000
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the City of Palmerston North taken on the 30th day of July 1952 on the proposal of the Palmerston North City Council to borrow the sum of £53,000 for the purpose of re-constructing, renovating, and re-seating the Opera House, Municipal Hall, and supper room :-
Votes. The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 1,068
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 1,259

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.
