Position: Mulivai Beacon, lat., 13° 49’ 4 S.; long., 171° 45’ 65 W.
Abridged Description : F.G. 41 ft. 15 M. (U).
Details : The arc of visibility of this light has been increased.
On chart No. 2211 an arc of visibility is to be inserted from 149°
through south to 229°.

Board of Trade Notice No. 30—Public Inquiry Into Tariff Duties on
Steel Butt Hinges
Board of Trade, 24 June 1952.

The Board of Trade proposes to inquire into and report upon
the question of what rate of duty should be imposed on steel butt
hinges which are included in Tariff item 356 (3).
The present rates of duty are—
British Preferential : 3 per cent.
General : 45 per cent plus surtax at the rate of nine-fortieths
of the amount of duty. -
For the purpose of taking evidence on the review of this
part of the Tariff item, the Board will hold a public inquiry
commencing on Tuesday, 16 September 1952, at 10.30 a.m., in the
Board Room, Ist Floor, Departmental Building, Stout Street,
Wellington. -
Any person who intends to tender evidence should comply
with the notes for the guidance of witnesses which have been
approved by the Board. A copy of these notes may be obtained
from the office of any Collector of Customs or from the under named. -
A typewritten statement of the evidence to be tendered,
compiled in accordance with these notes of guidance, should be
lodged with the under named on or before Tuesday, 9 September -
Each statement will, in general, need to be read under oath
at the public inquiry by the person tendering it.
