Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, and Retirements of Officers of the New Zealand Army

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army:

GENEBALS' LIST
Regular Force-
Major-General K. L. Stewart, C.B., C.B.E., D.S.O., relinquishes the appointments of Chief of the General Staff and First Military Member of the Army Board. Dated 31 March 1952.
Major-General K. L. Stewart, C.B., C.B.E., D.S.O., relinquishes the appointment of G.O.C., N.Z. Division. Dated 31 March 1952.
Brigadier W. G. Gentry, C.B.E., D.S.O., relinquishes the appointments of Adjutant-General, Army Headquarters, and Second Military Member of the Army Board, dated 31 March 1952, is promoted to the rank of Major-General, and is appointed Chief of the General Staff and First Military Member of the Army Board, dated 1 April 1952.
Major-General W. G. Gentry, C.B.E., D.S.O., is appointed G.O.C., N.Z. Division, in addition to his appointments of Chief of the General Staff and First Military Member of the Army Board. Dated 1 April 1952.

COLONELS' LIST
Regular Force-
Brigadier G. H. Clifton, D.S.O., M.C., is appointed Commandant, Northern Military District. Dated 22 March 1952.
Brigadier L. W. Andrew, V.C., D.S.O., relinquishes the appointment of Commandant, Central Military District. Dated 23 March 1952.
Colonel D. T. Maxwell, O.B.E., ceases to be attached to "A" Branch, Army Headquarters, dated 23 March 1952, is promoted to the rank of Brigadier, and is appointed Commandant, Central Military District, dated 24 March 1952.
Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Brigadier) J. R. Page, D.S.O., from the Royal N.Z. Artillery, to be Brigadier, and is appointed Adjutant-General, Army Headquarters, and Second Military Member of the Army Board. Dated 1 April 1952.

Regular Force-
Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Brigadier) J. R. Page, D.S.O., relinquishes the appointment of Commandant, Northern Military District, dated 21 March 1952, and is posted for duty to Army Headquarters, dated 22 March 1952.
Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Brigadier) J. R. Page, D.S.O., relinquishes the appointment of Commander Ist Infantry Brigade. Dated 31 March 1952.

6th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, R.N.Z.A.-
Captain R. J. Greenfield, from the 1st Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A., to be Captain, with seniority from 3 March 1948. Dated 23 January 1952.
Captain R. J. Greenfield to be temp. Major whilst employed as Battery Commander. Dated 23 January 1952.
13th Composite Anti-Aircraft Regiment, R.N.Z.A.-
Captain E. C. Foot is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 13th Composite Anti-Aircraft Regiment, R.N.Z.A., with the rank of Captain, with seniority from 17 November 1946. Dated 15 February 1952.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS
Regular Force-
31079 W.O.I Douglas Percy Birch to be Lieutenant and Quartermaster and is appointed Technical Adjutant, Tank Holding and Maintenance Section, Waiouru Camp. Dated 1 April 1952.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ENGINEERS
Regular Force-
Lieutenant and Quartermaster (temp. Captain and Quartermaster) F. G. H. Clark to be Captain and Quartermaster. Dated 1 March 1952.
Territorial Force-
Brigadier F. M. H. Hanson, D.S.O., O.B.E., M.M., is appointed Associate Member of the Army Board. Dated 1 April 1952.
2nd Field Squadron, R.N.Z.E.-
Major J. S. Berry is appointed O.C. 2nd Field Squadron, R.N.Z.E. Dated 12 October 1950.

Captain J. L. Coombes is granted an extension of his short-service commission for a period of two years as from 1 March 1952.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) A. H. Sutton is granted a long-service commission in the rank of Captain with seniority from 13 March 1950. Dated 13 March 1952.
Lieutenant J. S. Manning to be Captain. Dated 4 December 1951.
Territorial Force-
1st Infantry Brigade-
Brigadier J. Conolly, D.S.O., from the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry Corps, to be Brigadier, with seniority from 15 February 1950, and is appointed Commander 1st Infantry Brigade. Dated 1 April 1952.
The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington's Own)-
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) B. A. Paetz, seconded to the Wellington College Cadets, to be Captain, with seniority from 26 June 1942, and is transferred to the N.Z. Cadet Corps. Dated 1 March 1951.
The Canterbury Regiment-
Lieutenant (temp. Major) E. J. Wood, E.D., seconded to the Ashburton High School Cadets, to be Major, with seniority from 25 August 1948, and is transferred to the N.Z. Cadet Corps. Dated 1 March 1951.

Captain J. G. R. Morley is appointed D.A.A.G. (1), Army Headquarters and is granted the temporary rank of Major whilst so employed. Dated 1 March 1952.
Captain (temp. Major) J. G. R. Morley is transferred to the Royal N.Z. Artillery with his present rank and seniority. Dated 18 March 1952.
Captain and Quartermaster L. G. Williams, E.D., is transferred to the Royal N.Z. Engineers with his present rank and seniority. Dated 24 March 1952.

THE ROYAL N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT

With reference to the notice published in the N.Z. Gazette No. 16, dated 21 February 1952, relative to the appointment of the Rev. F. J. Green, Chaplain, 3rd Class, for "and is posted for duty to Central District Training Depot," substitute "and is posted for duty to Headquarters Waiouru Camp".

The Rev. Frederick Bert Marshall to be Chaplain, 4th Class (Church of Christ), Area 9. Dated 8 December 1951.
