RESOLUTION MAKING AND LEVYING A SPECIAL RATE

Maniototo Area Rural Reticulation Loan 1951

EXTRACT from minutes of a special meeting of the Board held in the Boards’ offices, Union Street, Milton, on the 18th day of September 1951, at 3 p.m. :—

“That in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926 and the Electric-power Boards Act 1925, and any amendments thereto, and for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of fifty thousand pounds (£50,000), to be known as Maniototo Area Rural Reticulation Loan 1951, authorized to be raised by the Otago Electric-power Board under the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of further reticulating the Otago Electric-power District in respect of which works, guarantees as described in clause 21–43 of the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935, shall first be given in favour of the power board for payments amounting in each of not less than ten consecutive years from the completion of such works to at least 15 per cent of the estimated capital cost of such works except that such guarantees may be reduced to the extent of any subsidies granted by the Rural Electrical Reticulation Council, the said Otago Electric-power Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of one and two-fifth pence (1⅖d.) in the pound upon the capital rateable value of all rateable property of the special rating area comprising: All that area in the Otago Land District being part of the Maniototo County bounded by a line commencing at Trig. F, Upper Taieriside Survey District; thence generally north-westerly by right lines through Trig. A, Trig. G, Trig. H, aforesaid district, to Trig. I on the boundary between Gimmerburn and Poolburn Survey Districts; thence north-westerly along that boundary to a road and the southern boundary of Block XI, Gimmerburn Survey District; thence generally easterly and northerly along the southern and eastern boundaries of Block XI, and easterly and northerly along the southern and eastern boundaries of Block X to Omnibus Creek Road, aforesaid district; thence generally northerly across that road and along Highfield Runs Road to the southern corner of Run 225DD, Block IX, aforesaid district; thence due north through Runs 225DD and 225AA to a point on the northern boundary of Run 225AA, Block IX aforesaid; thence north-westerly along that boundary to the northernmost corner of Run 225AA on the Survey District boundary of Blackstone and Gimmerburn; thence generally north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of Blackstone Survey District; the southern boundary of Idaburn Survey District to the northernmost corner of Section 12, Block X, Naseby Survey District; thence north-easterly approximately two miles along the south-eastern boundary of Run 227D to a road in Block III, Idaburn Survey District; thence south-easterly along a right line to the north-western corner of Block VI, Naseby Survey District; thence easterly along the northern boundary of Block VI, aforesaid district, to the south-eastern boundary of Run 306; thence south-westerly and south-easterly along that boundary to a road junction at the south-eastern corner of Run 306, Block VI aforesaid; thence generally north-easterly along a road to the north-eastern boundary of Section 2, Block VI aforesaid; thence south-easterly along that boundary and its production to the Eweburn (East Branch); thence generally southerly along the Eweburn (East Branch) to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 18, Block VI aforesaid; thence south-easterly to and along that boundary to the Gimmerburn–Naseby Road; thence south-westerly along that road to the south-eastern corner of Section 22, Block VI aforesaid; thence east along the southern boundaries of Section 22, 23, Block VI aforesaid, and continuing in an easterly direction along the southern boundary of Section 55, Block I aforesaid, and continuing along the southern boundary of Block I, Naseby Survey District, to the south-western corner of Section 54, Block I aforesaid; thence in an easterly direction along the southern boundary of Section 54, Block I aforesaid, to the water-race at the south-eastern corner of Section 47, Block I, aforesaid district; thence northerly along that water-race to and along the southern boundary of Section 45 of the said Block I to the boundary of Kyeburn Survey District; thence in a southerly direction along the western boundary of the Kyeburn Survey District to the south-western corner of Section V, Block I aforesaid; thence easterly along the southern boundary of the Kyeburn Survey District to the point on the western bank of the Kyeburn River; thence generally south along the western bank of the aforesaid river to a point due west of the southern boundary of Section V, Block I, Swinburn; thence due east across the Kyeburn River to the south-western corner of Section V aforesaid; thence along the southern boundary aforesaid to a point where the said boundary intersects a road, thence generally south-east along the eastern boundary of the said road to the north-western corner of Section 20, Block I, Swinburn Survey District; thence south-westerly along the southern boundary of the road which forms the northern boundaries of Section 19 and 18 aforesaid to the north-western corner of Section 18, Block I aforesaid; thence south-westerly along the western boundary of Section 18 to the south-western corner aforesaid; thence easterly along the northern boundaries of Section 3 and 2, Block 4, Swinburn Survey District, to the north-eastern corner of Section 2, Block 4 aforesaid; thence southerly along that boundary to a road; thence south-westerly along that road to the eastern boundary of Section 5 of the said Block IV; thence northerly and westerly along the eastern and northern boundaries of said Section 5 to the south-western corner of Section 4, Block IV aforesaid; thence north-easterly to an angle in the western boundary of said Section 4; thence westerly across the Kyeburn to a point on the eastern boundary of Section 23, Block VIII, Maniototo Survey District; thence generally southerly along that boundary to a road on the southern boundary of said Section 23; thence generally westerly along that road and the northern boundaries of Sections 26 and 25, Block VIII aforesaid, to a road; thence north-

thence in a north-westerly direction along the road line to the south-western corner of Section 12, Block X aforesaid, thence south-westerly along the road line to a point where the aforesaid road intersects the Styx–Patearoa Road; thence south generally south along the eastern boundary of that road to the south-western corner of Block X aforesaid, thence westerly along the northern boundary of Block XIII, Upper Taieri Survey District, to Trig. Station E; thence south-westerly by a right line to Trig. Station F, Upper Taieriside Survey District, the point of commencement. And that such special rate shall be an annual recurring rate during the currency of the said loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of the said Maniototo Area Rural Reticulation Loan 1951 or until the said loan has been fully repaid, and that the said special rate be and the same is hereby appropriated and pledged as security for the repayment of the said loan and for the payment of interest thereon and other charges under the securities to be issued in respect of the said loan.”
