Land Surveyors' Examination, February 1952—Australia and New Zealand

The Survey Board of New Zealand,
Wellington, 21 December 1951.

IT is hereby notified for general information that the Survey Board, in conjunction with the Australian Surveyors' Boards, will conduct an examination of candidates for registration as surveyors, commencing at 9 a.m. on Monday, 18 February 1952, at Wellington.
Candidates are notified that their applications, on the proper form, must reach the Secretary of the Board not later than Monday, 21 January 1952, and that the examination fee must be paid at the same time to the Secretary, from whom application forms and other particulars may be obtained.
Candidates presenting themselves for examination in any written subject or subjects may present themselves for examination at any Chief Surveyor's Office.
The oral and practical portion of the examination cannot be taken until the candidate's term of indentureship has been completed. Candidates for the oral and practical portion of the examination must sit in Wellington. Plans for this portion of the examination, the certificate, and other evidence required by regulation No. 31 of the Survey Examination Regulations 1943, must be forwarded not later than 10 March 1952.

Licensing Control Commission—Awarding Compensation to Owners
TAKE notice that, pursuant to the provisions of the Licensing Amendment Act 1948, the Commission has awarded the following amount of compensation to William Henry Quickfall and Joseph Frank Cameron as trustees in the estate of John Brennan, deceased, the owners, consequent upon the surrender of the publican's licence in respect of the premises shown below :—
"Metropolitan" Hotel at Wanganui.—William Henry Quickfall and Joseph Frank Cameron, care Messieurs Marshall, Izard & Wilson, as Trustees in the Estate of John Brennan deceased, the owners, the sum of £1,650.
And further take notice that no person (other than the above-named persons and other than a person claiming a lien as mortgagee) shall be entitled to receive the compensation or make any claim in respect of the compensation awarded unless notice in writing of such claim, stating whether compensation is claimed by him as owner or as licensee, is lodged with the Commission within six weeks of the 10th day of January 1952, being the date of publication of this notice in the Gazette :
And further take notice that any mortgagee from an owner or licensee shall, upon giving written notice to the Commission within one month after the 10th day of January 1952 aforesaid, have a lien on the amount of the compensation payable to the mortgagor for the amount of the mortgage debt, and any interest or other charges owing to the mortgagee under or in respect of the mortgage.

THE following notices, received by the Right Hon. the Minister of Finance from the Mayor of the Borough of Mount Roskill, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act 1926.

MOUNT ROSKILL BOROUGH COUNCIL
Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Mount Roskill, taken on the 15th day of December 1951, on the proposal of the Mount Roskill Borough Council to borrow the sum of three hundred and ninety-seven thousand seven hundred and fifty pounds (£397,750) for the purpose of constructing certain streets and footpaths in the borough to permanent levels, including kerbing and channelling, bitumen sealing carriageways, concreting footpaths, and provision of stormwater drainage :-
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 879.
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 135.
Informal, 5.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Mount Roskill, taken on the 15th day of December 1951, on the proposal of the Mount Roskill Borough Council to borrow the sum of seventy thousand five hundred pounds (£70,500) for the purpose of constructing Mount Albert Road to permanent levels, including kerbing and channelling, bitumen sealing carriageway, bitumen sealing or concreting footpaths, and provision of stormwater drainage :-
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 872.
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 140.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
