Notice to Mariners No. 48 of 1951

SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN—TONGA ISLANDS—VAVA‘U GROUP

Foiata Islet—Light Established

Position: Near 125 ft. summit; Chart No. 3098; Lat., 18° 42′·9 S., long., 174° 08′·4 W. (approx.).
Abridged Description: Fl. 5 sec. 12 M. (U).
Details: Flashing white every 5 secs., visibility 12 miles, visible from 225° to 072° and from 106° to 154°, obscured elsewhere, light unwatched.

Neiafu Harbour—Alteration to Beacons and Buoys

Position: Lat., 18° 39′·0 S., long., 173° 59′·2 W. (approx.). Chart No. 3097.
Details: All leading beacons marked as white beacons are now white with a vertical black stripe in the centre.
The red buoy on Calloway Rock has been altered to a black can.
The black buoy exhibiting a flashing light on the sand-spit opposite Kilikili is now a red can with a triangular lattice work superstructure and exhibiting a flashing light.
The mooring buoys east and west of the wharf which are shown as red on the chart are now painted black.

Ha’apai Group

Position: Lifuka Island.
Details: The light on Hakau Muikuku in its present charted position has been relighted and is now flashing every 3 secs. 22 ft. visible 5 miles.
The light on HakauLoa in a position 259° 1·2 miles from the Tongan F.S. has been relighted and is now flashing every 3 secs. 22 ft. visible 5 miles.
The red sector light at harbour entrance is now a white flashing light in the same position as charted.

Buoys:—
On LuaSii in charted position a red can.
On Mariner Patch in charted position, black can.
On Lua Matavai in charted position black can.
On LuaVika in charted position red conical.
Black conical buoy charted marking the harbour entrance is now a red conical.
Black buoy of HakauLoa has been shifted to a position 263° 1·2 miles from Tongan F.S. and changed to red conical.

The following buoys are to be expunged :—
(a) 319° 0·8 miles from Tongan F.S.
(b) Marking Rachel Patch.
(c) 331° 0·5 miles from Tongan F.S.
(d) Marking Alibati Patch.

The beacons are all in position as charted and the beacon on Hakau Fusibala has been erected.
New Beacons have been established 310°·5 2·5 miles from Tongan F.S., and 317° 1·3 miles from Tongan F.S., and on the reef off Uoleva Island in lat., 19° 50′·1 S.; long., 174° 25′·4 W. (approx.).
Haano Island light marked extinguished has been relighted.
Charts Affected: Nos. 2421, 3098, 3099, 3100, 473, 3097.

Notice of Vesting of Land in the Public Trustee Under the Public Trust Office Act 1908 (Part II)—Unclaimed Lands

WHEREAS, I, the undersigned, the Public Trustee, have for the purposes of Part II of the Public Trust Office Act 1908 (relating to unclaimed lands), made due inquiry with respect to the lands described in the Schedule hereunder and the whereabouts of the owner thereof, and have, in respect of the said lands, given the notices prescribed by section 66 of that Act and have in all respects complied with the provisions of that Act pertinent thereto:

And whereas the owner has not established his title to the said lands as required by that Act:

I hereby give notice that the said lands are under and by virtue of that Act vested in the Public Trustee as aforesaid as from the date of the publication hereof, and will be administered under the Public Trust Office Act 1908, the value of the lands for the purposes of section 67 (d) of that Act being less than five hundred pounds (£500).

SCHEDULE

ALL that parcel of land containing 236 acres and 20 perches, more or less, situated in Blocks II, IV, and V, Ahipara Survey District, called Wairoa No. 2, being the whole of land comprised in certificate of title, Volume 351, folio 25, of the register book in the Lands Registry Office at Auckland, the registered proprietor of which is the Ahipara Gum Company, Limited, dissolution of which took effect as from the 12th day of October 1927.

THE following notice, received by the Right Hon. the Minister of Finance from the Chairman of the Castlepoint County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926.

COUNTY OF CASTLEPOINT

Bridge Rate Proposal

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the County of Castlepoint, taken on the 29th day of September 1951, on the proposal of the Castlepoint County Council to make and levy a bridge rate of three farthings in the pound :—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 66.
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 8.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
Declared at Tinui, 1st day of October 1951.

NOTE.—(1) The above notice of poll was duly published in the Wairarapa Times Age on 8 October 1951 under the hand of the returning officer to the County of Castlepoint and pursuant to section 82 of the Local Elections and Polls Act 1925.

(2) A copy of the above is forwarded herewith to the Hon. the Minister of Finance and to the Secretary, Local Government Loans Board, in accord with section 9 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926.
