Notice of Final Decision of New Zealand Geographic Board re Assigning of Place Names

Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 24 October 1951.

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 12 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946, notice was given on the 21st day of June 1951 of the intention of the New Zealand Geographic Board to assign certain names set out in the first column of the Schedule attached to the said notice to the respective places and features set out and described opposite those names in the second and third columns of the said Schedule :

And whereas, pursuant to section 13 (1) of the said Act, no objections have been received to such of the proposed names as are set out in the first column of the Schedule hereto :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 15 of the said Act, notice is hereby given that on and after the 24th day of December 1951 there shall be assigned the names set out in the first column of the Schedule hereto to the respective places and features set out and described opposite those names in the second and third columns of the said Schedule.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT
Akatere Trig, road, district, &c. Block II, Whangaroa Survey District, and Block VII, Mangonui Survey District. Instead of Akaterere. Components: Aka-tere.
Motuihe Island Rangitoto Survey District. Instead of Motuihi. Components: Motu-ihe (Te Motu-o-Ihenga).
SOUTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT
Ikawhenua Range Between the Rangitaiki and Whakatane Rivers, extending approximately from Trig. 4 (Te Tiringa) in Block VIII, Rangitaiki Upper Survey District, to the Huiarau Range near Mapouriki Trig. in Block III, Waikaremoana West Survey District. Components: Ika-whenua.
Mapouriki Trig. station Block III, Tuawatawata Survey District. Instead of Maporiki. Components: Ma-pou-riki.
Maramaratotara Bay Blocks X and XI, Otama Survey District. In Mercury Bay near entrance to Whitianga Harbour. Components: Mara-mara-totara.
Ohaua Point Block XIII, Kawhia North Survey District. Near Takatahi Trig. Station. Components: O-haua.
Raungaehc Range Rangitaiki Upper and Rangitaiki Lower Survey Districts. That portion of the Ikawhenua Range between Te Tiringa and Taumatamiere Trig. Stations. Components: Rau-nga-ehe.
Ruapuke Locality Block VIII, Karici Survey District. Formerly known as Aotea. Components: Rua-puke.
Taumatamiere Trig. station and stream Blocks IV and VIII, Rangitaiki Lower Survey District. Instead of Taumatamiri. Components: Taumata-miere.
Tuwatawata Survey district and Trig. station Trig. station situated in Block I, Tuawatawata Survey District. Instead of Tuawatawata. Components: Tu-wata-wata.
Whakapenui Point Block VII, Otama Survey District. Instead of Cemetery Point. Components: Whaka-pe-nui.
GISBORNE LAND DISTRICT
Anaotamaraukura Locality Block V, Paritu Survey District. Instead of Te Ana Taumaraukura. Components: Ana-o-Tama-raukura.
Hauraki Stream Block XIII, Paritu Survey District. Instead of Haukaki.
Mamaku Locality Nuhaka North Survey District. Instead of Mamaka.
Mapere Locality Block I, Paritu Survey District. Instead of Mapiri.
Otirangi Locality Block IX, Paritu Survey District. Instead of Otitangi. Components: Oti-rangi.

HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT
