Declaration of Result of Poll for the Eastern Maori Electoral District

I, EDWARD LESLIE ADAMS, Returning Officer for the Eastern Maori Electoral District, do hereby declare the result of the poll taken on the 1st day of September 1951, for the election of a Member of Parliament for the said district to be as follows :—

Candidates. Votes Polled.
Alfred Thomas Carroll .. 5,199
Tiaki Omana .. 8,905
Total number of valid votes polled .. 14,104
Number of votes rejected as informal .. 245

I therefore declare the said Tiaki Omana to be elected.

Declaration of Result of Poll for the Northern Maori Electoral District

I, WILLIAM LESLIE JOHNS CAHILL, Returning Officer for the Northern Maori Electoral District, do hereby declare the result of the poll taken on the 1st day of September 1951 for the election of a Member of Parliament for the said district to be as follows :—

Candidates. Votes Polled.
James Tau Henare .. 3,680
Tapihana Paraire Paikea .. 5,812

Total number of valid votes polled .. 9,492
Number of votes rejected as informal .. 141

I therefore declare the said Tapihana Paraire Paikea to be elected.
