Reorganization of the Territorial Force

Wellington, 2nd August, 1951.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following amendments to New Zealand Gazette Notice No. 55 dated 21st October, 1948:—

REORGANIZATION OF THE TERRITORIAL FORCE

Whereas by New Zealand Gazette Notice No. 55, appearing at pages 1298 and 1299 of the New Zealand Gazette dated 21st October, 1948, His Excellency the Governor-General was pleased to approve under section 6 (a), Defence Act, 1908, the reorganization of the Territorial Force:

And whereas by reason of that part of New Zealand formerly known as “North Auckland,” in which locality the North Auckland Regiment is raised, now being named “Northland,” it has been deemed necessary to change the title of the North Auckland Regiment:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve that the said Gazette notice of 21st October, 1948, be amended as follows:—

Retained Without Alteration

By deleting “The North Auckland Regiment” and “The 1st Battalion, The North Auckland Regiment” in the first column, and substituting “The Northland Regiment” and “The 1st Battalion, The Northland Regiment” respectively.

The Servicemen's Settlement Act, 1950—Notice Declaring Land Taken for Settlement of Discharged Servicemen

WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Valuation Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto, and to which Part II of the Servicemen's Settlement Act, 1950, applies:

And whereas the purchaser of the said land is neither a discharged serviceman nor a child or grandchild of the vendor:

And whereas the Land Valuation Committee to which the said application was referred, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the said land, did on the 27th day of July, 1951, adjourn the said application:

Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 31 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of discharged servicemen, and hereby specifies the 15th day of August, 1951, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.

SCHEDULE

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT

ALL that area situated in Block V, Otahoua Survey District, containing by admeasurement five hundred and one (501) acres three (3) roods eight (8) perches, more or less, being Tarunaruua 131N Block, part Taumatakaihuka A and B Blocks, and part Section 12, Taueru Block, and being the whole of the land comprised and described in certificates of title, Volume 21, folio 241, Volume 49, folio 158, and Volume 370, folio 273 (Wellington Registry), together with a right-of-way over part Lot 10 on Deposited Plan No. 637, being part Section 11, Taueru Block, contained in certificate of title, Volume 74, folio 292 (Wellington Registry), created in and by T31136.

Also all that area situated in Block I, Otahoua Survey District, containing by admeasurement four (4) acres one (1) rood thirty-six (36) perches, more or less, being Lot 5 on Deposited Plan No. 8908, being part of accretion to Potaerau Block, and being the whole of the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Volume 396, folio 123 (Wellington Registry).

Revoking a Warrant Declaring an Area to be a Closely Populated Locality and Declaring an Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of Section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949

IN terms of section 36 of the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport doth hereby revoke that portion of the Warrant dated the 25th day of August 1937,* which refers to the portion of road described in the First Schedule hereto and doth hereby declare the area described in the Second Schedule hereto to be within a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

FIRST SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Waipa County—

All that area adjoining Te Awamutu – Cambridge Main Highway No. 319 from its junction with the Great South Road near Te Awamutu to its junction with Te Rahu Road.


SECOND SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Waipa County—

All that area adjacent to Te Awamutu Borough consisting of the Te Awamutu – Cambridge Main Highway No. 319, commencing at its junction with the Hamilton – Te Kuiti State Highway and terminating at a point 46 chains measured along the said main highway in an easterly direction from the said junction.
