Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Green Island, the County of Taieri, and the Kaikorai Riding of the County of Taieri

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the Borough of Green Island are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by Order in Council made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, dated the 20th day of February, 1951, and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 11 of the 22nd day of February, 1951.

And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the County of Taieri, affected by the said Order in Council, are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto :

And, in further pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the Kaikorai Riding of the County of Taieri, affected by the said Order in Council, are hereby defined as set out in the Third Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF GREEN ISLAND

ALL that area in the Otago Land District bounded by a line commencing at the junction of Edward Street and Gordon Street; thence southerly along the centre of Gordon Street to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 41, Block VI, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District; thence easterly to and along that boundary to and along the southern side of Duke Street to the western boundary of Section 61, Block VI, aforesaid; thence southerly, easterly, and north-easterly along the western, southern, and south-eastern boundaries of the said Section 61 and the south-eastern boundary of Sections 44 and 45, Block VI, aforesaid, to the northernmost corner of Section 45, Block V, Lower Kaikorai Survey District; thence generally south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of Section 45, Block V, aforesaid and its production to the south-western boundary of Section 42, Block VI, Town Survey District; thence south-easterly along that boundary to the Main South Road; thence generally south-westerly along the north-western side of the Main South Road to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 44, Block VI, Town Survey District; thence south-easterly across the Main South Road to the aforesaid boundary; thence generally southerly along the eastern side of the Main South Road to the easternmost corner of Lot 1, Deposited Plan 6422; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of Lots 1 and 2, Deposited Plan 6422, and Lot 14, the abutment of Mulford Street, and Lot 46, D.P. 2135, to its southernmost corner; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundaries of Lots 46, 45, 44, 43, 42, 41, 40, and 39, D.P. 2135, aforesaid to Emerson Street; thence generally south-westerly along the eastern side of Emerson Street and north-westerly along the western side of Thoreau Street to and generally westerly along the southern boundaries of Lot 63, D.P. 2357, to the boundary of Block XV, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District; thence south-westerly, north-westerly, and again south-westerly along that block boundary to the northern side of District Road; thence westerly and south-westerly along the northern side of District Road to Brighton Road; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern side of Brighton Road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of the fellmongery lease created by deed 98526, Deeds Volume 151, folio 522, Otago Registry; thence north-westerly across Brighton Road to and along the said boundary to and north-easterly along the north-western boundary of the aforesaid lease and its production to and generally south-easterly along the south-western boundary of the Walton Park branch railway to and across Brighton Road to its south-eastern side; thence north-easterly along that road to and across the Walton Park branch railway to its northern boundary; thence north-westerly along the northern side of the Walton Park branch railway to Abbots Creek; thence generally northerly along the eastern side of Abbots Creek to the southern boundary of Section 60, Block VII, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District; thence north-easterly along that boundary and its production across the Main South Road; thence generally northerly along the north-eastern side of the Main South Road to the southern boundary of Lot 1, Deposited Plan 2899; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of Lot 1 aforesaid to a railway reserve; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of that reserve to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Lot 5, D.P. 4427; thence north-easterly to the said boundary and generally northerly along the eastern boundary of the aforesaid railway reserve, across the said reserve, and again along its eastern boundary to its junction with North Taieri Road; thence south-easterly along the western side of North Taieri Road to a point in line with the northern boundary of Lot 15, Deposited Plan 2103; thence north-easterly to and along the northern boundaries of Lots 15 and 16, the abutment of Alexander Street, and Lot 45, Deposited Plan 2103, to a point 210 links along the northern boundary of said Lot 45; thence by a straight line to the north-western corner of Lot 45, Deeds Plan 139; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundaries of Lot 45, the abutment of Teignmouth Street, Lots 44 and 32, the abutment of Exeter Street, Lot 31, and its production across Torquay Street; thence south-easterly along the eastern side of Torquay Street to the south-western corner of Lot 45, Block II, Deeds Plan 140; thence easterly along the southern boundary of Lot 45 aforesaid to the western boundary of Section 62, Block VI, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District; thence southerly along that boundary to a point in line with the southern side of Edward Street; thence easterly to and along the southern side of Edward Street to the point of commencement.

BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF TAIERI

ALL that area in the Otago Land District bounded by a line commencing on the sea-coast at the mouth of the Taieri River; thence generally north-westerly up the centre of the Taieri River to the southern boundary of Block VI, Maungatua Survey District; thence generally north-westerly along the southern and south-western boundaries of Block VI aforesaid to Waipori Lake; thence generally north-easterly by the eastern shore of Waipori Lake to the Waipori River; thence generally westerly by the centre of the Waipori River to the western boundary of Block XV, Maungatua Survey District; thence northerly along the western boundaries of Blocks XV, XIII, and XII, and easterly along the northern boundary of Block XII, Maungatua Survey District, to and northerly along the western boundary of Blocks XII and XI, Waipori Survey District, and its production to Lee Stream; thence generally north-westerly along the centre of Lee Stream and the southern boundary of Run 260B to the Pole Track; thence generally south-westerly, westerly, and north-westerly by the Pole Track along the watersheds between Deep Stream and the Waipori River to a road intersection south of Trig. H, Hedgehope Survey District; thence generally northerly by the Lammermoor Ranges leading ridge to Trig. N, Soutra Hill; thence north-easterly by a straight line to Trig. H, Summit Rock; thence northerly by a straight line to the southernmost corner of Run 204F; thence south-easterly by a straight line to and along the southern boundary of Run 205E to the right bank of the Taieri River; thence south-easterly by a straight line towards Trig D, the Hummock, to the southern boundary of Section 1, Block III, Strath Taieri Survey District; thence generally easterly along the southern and eastern boundaries of the said Section 1 to and easterly along the northern boundary of Sections 18 and 17, Block VII, Strath Taieri Survey District to the Middlemarch-Dunback Main Highway; thence generally southerly along the eastern side of that highway to a point on the aforesaid line between the Taieri River and Trig. D, the Hummock; thence south-easterly along that line to Trig. D, the Hummock; thence generally southerly along the western boundaries of Runs 171c, 171g, 171b, and Section 5, Block VIII, Silverpeak Survey District to Three O’clock Creek; thence generally north-easterly by that Creek to the eastern boundary of Block VIII, aforesaid; thence southerly and easterly along the western and southern boundaries of Block IX, Silverpeak Survey District, to and south-easterly along the western boundary of Block VII, Silverpeak Survey District, and its production to Silverpeak; thence by a straight line to Trig. S, Swampy Spur; thence generally south-westerly along the eastern boundaries of Section 3, the crossing of a road, Sections 11, 10, and 9, the crossing of a road, Sections 55, 54, and the south-eastern boundary of 53, Block V, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District, to the boundary of the City of Dunedin; thence generally south-westerly by the boundary of the City of Dunedin as described in New Zealand Gazette of the 18th August, 1949, at page 1724, to its junction with the boundary of the Borough of Green Island on the north-eastern boundary of Section 45, Block V, Lower Kaikorai Survey District; thence generally westerly, south-westerly, and easterly along the boundaries of the Borough of Green Island as hereinbefore described in the First Schedule, to the boundary of the City of Dunedin at the westernmost corner of Section 44, Block VI, Town Survey District; thence generally southerly along the boundary of the City of Dunedin described as aforesaid, to the high-water mark of the Pacific Ocean; thence generally south-westerly along the high-water mark of the ocean to the point of commencement; excluding therefrom the Borough of Mosgiel as described in New Zealand Gazette of 1885, page 291.

THIRD SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE KAIKORAI RIDING OF THE COUNTY OF TAIERI

ALL that area bounded by a line commencing on the sea-coast at the mouth of the Kaikorai Stream; thence generally north-easterly along the left bank of that stream and Abbots Creek to the northern side of the Walton Park branch railway; thence generally easterly along the southern boundary of the Borough of Green Island as hereinbefore described in the First Schedule, and generally southerly along the western boundary of the City of Dunedin as described in New Zealand Gazette of the 18th August, 1949, at page 1724, to the sea-coast; thence generally south-westerly along the sea-coast to the point of commencement.

Also, all that area bounded by a line commencing at the south-western corner of Lot 2, D.P. 2899, on the left bank of Abbots Creek; thence generally north-westerly along that left bank to the Main South Road; thence generally westerly along the southern side of the Main South Road to a point in line with the road forming the north-western boundary of Section 77, Block VII, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District; thence generally north-easterly to and along the south-eastern side of that road to and along the north-western boundary of Section 15, Block VI, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District, to and across a road, to and generally north-easterly along the southern side of the Wingatui-Halfway Bush Road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 8, Block VI, aforesaid; thence north-westerly to and along the said boundary and the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of Section 2 of 1 and the south-western boundary of Section 1 of 1, all Block VI, aforesaid, to a road; thence generally easterly along the southern side of that road and the Dunedin-Dukes Road Railway-station Main Highway to the western boundary of Wakari Survey District; thence easterly, northerly, and again easterly along the boundaries of Wakari Survey District to the City of Dunedin boundary at the easternmost corner of Section 31, Wakari Survey District; thence generally south-westerly along the boundary of the City of Dunedin as described in New Zealand Gazette of the 18th August, 1949, at page 1724, to its junction with the boundary of the Borough of Green Island; thence generally westerly by the boundary of the Borough of Green Island as hereinbefore described in the First Schedule, to the point of commencement.
