IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section 44 of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby appoint

Cyril Crawford Sands,
Keith Allan Polglaze,
Stanley Bruce Langford,
Percy Vernon Russ,
Owen Gladstone Green,
James Edward Cain,
Cecil Henry Williams, and
Arthur Edward Jacques

to be the Manu Domain Board, having control of the land described in the Schedule hereto ; and doth hereby appoint Friday, the 9th day of February, 1951, at 8.30 o’clock p.m., as the time when, and the Tui Hall as the place where, the first meeting of the Board shall be held.

Recreation Reserve in the Nelson Land District Brought Under Part II of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928

ORDER IN COUNCIL

THE HON. K. J. HOLYOAKE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in me by section 34 of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby order and declare that the reserve for recreation in the Nelson Land District described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby brought under the operation of and declared to be subject to the provisions of Part II of the said Act; and such reserve shall hereafter be known as the Manu Domain, and be managed, administered, and dealt with as a public domain.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by section 301 of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the persons whose names are set out in the Schedule hereto, being officers in the service of the Crown holding the offices stated opposite their names respectively in the said Schedule, are authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under section 301 of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927.

Appointing a Place to be the Patent Office

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by subsection 3 of section 113 of the Patents, Designs, and Trade-marks Act, 1921–22, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint—

Room No. 7 on the Ground Floor of the Departmental Building, Stout Street, in the City of Wellington,

to be the Patent Office, under and for the purposes of the said Act.

Appointments in the Royal New Zealand Navy

Captain George Verner Motley Dolphin, D.S.O., R.N., lent Royal New Zealand Navy for H.M.N.Z.S. “Philomel”, additional, for passage, to date 20th March, 1951, and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. “Bellona” in Command, and as Senior Officer, New Zealand Squadron, vice Ruck-Keene (date to be reported).

Lieutenant Bernard Lawrence Twomey, D.S.C., promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander, to date 7th December, 1950.

Lieutenant Alfred Vivian Kempthorne, promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander, to date 14th December, 1950.

Lieutenant George Brian White Johnson, R.N., transferred to the Royal New Zealand Navy in the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 8th July, 1948, to date 9th January, 1951.

Lieutenants Francis Parnell Mathieson, Michael John Garnett, Michael Charles Mason, and John Gerrard Herring, R.N., lent Royal New Zealand Navy, and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. “Maori”, additional, to date 14th November, 1950, and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. “Philomel”, additional, for passage (date to be reported).

The Reverend Michael Kenefick, Honorary Chaplain (R.C.), Honorary Commission terminated, to date 18th July, 1950.

The Reverend Peter Battersby, Chaplain, entered in the Royal New Zealand Navy in the rank of Honorary Chaplain (R.C.), vice Kenefick, with seniority of 18th July, 1950, to date 18th July, 1950.

Probationary Surgeon-Lieutenant (D) Donald Millar, L.D.S., seniority as Surgeon-Lieutenant (D) ante-dated to 8th July, 1947.

Commander (S) Maurice Hubert Knott, O.B.E., R.N., lent Royal New Zealand Navy, to date 12th January, 1951, and appointed as Third Naval Member of the New Zealand Naval Board, date to be reported. (Granted the acting rank of Captain (S) while holding this appointment.)

Senior Commissioned Writer Officer (Acting Lieutenant (S)) Morris Aaron Lawson, promoted to the rank of Lieutenant (S), to date 27th September, 1950, with seniority of 10th April, 1948.

Lieutenant (S) Robert Gillespie Adams, A.R.A.N.Z., A.A.I.S., R.N.Z.N. (Retired), reinstated on the Active List in the rank of Lieutenant (S) with seniority of 1st June, 1949, and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. “Philomel II”, additional, to date 10th November, 1950, and H.M.N.Z.S. “Bellona”, additional, to date 19th November, 1950.

Dudley John Harris, entered as a Naval Cadet (Supply and Secretariat) and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. “Maori”, additional, for passage to the United Kingdom, to date 28th November, 1950, and H.M.S. “Britannia”, additional, for training, to date 1st January, 1951 (pay accounts to be carried in H.M.N.Z.S. “Maori”).

Percy Norman Day, Stores Chief Petty Officer, N.Z. 11741, and John Harper Craig, Stores Chief Petty Officer, N.Z. 11740, promoted to the rank of Temporary Acting Commissioned Supply Officer, and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. “Philomel”, additional, to date 5th December, 1950.

Charles William Holland-Goodwin, Petty Officer Telegraphist, N.Z. 12442, promoted to the rank of Acting Sub-Lieutenant (Special Branch), to date 13th December, 1950, and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. “Philomel”, additional, to date 13th December, 1950.
