Land Reserved in the Nelson Land District

WHEREAS by section 167 of the Land Act, 1948, it is enacted that the Governor-General may, from time to time, set apart as a reserve, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral lease or pastoral occupation licence, any Crown land for any purpose which, in his opinion, is desirable in the public interest, and notice thereof shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette :

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby reserve, subject to the reservations and conditions imposed by section 59 of the Land Act, 1948, and subject also to the reservations imposed by section 8 of the Coal Mines Amendment Act, 1950, the land in the Nelson Land District described in the Schedule hereto for water-conservation purposes.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT

SECTION 25, Block VIII, and Section 24, Block IX, Waitapu Survey District: Total area, 1,075 acres, more or less

Notice of Intention to Issue an Order in Council Revoking the Reservation Over the Nikau Domain, North Auckland Land District

WHEREAS by section 41 of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), it is provided that the Governor-General may from time to time by Order in Council, but subject to compliance with the requirements of subsection (2) of section 7 of the said Act, declare that the land comprised in a public domain or part thereof shall cease to be subject to Part II of the said Act ; and, further, may declare either that such land shall be a public reserve for the purposes of Part I of the said Act, or Crown land available for disposal by way of sale for cash under the Land Act, 1948 :

And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto is known as the Nikau Domain but is not required for domain purposes, and it is expedient to revoke the reservation over the said land :

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby give notice pursuant to subsection (2) of section 7 of the said Act that it is my intention to issue an Order in Council under the provisions of section 41 of the said Act declaring that the Nikau Domain described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to Part II of the said Act, and shall be deemed to be Crown land available for disposal by way of sale for cash under the Land Act, 1948.

SCHEDULE
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—NIKAU DOMAIN

ALL that area situated in Block XII, Otamatea Survey District, containing by admeasurement 12 acres and 39·9 perches, more or less, being part Allotment M. 129, Parish of Oruawharo. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1/731, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army :—

COLONELS’ LIST

Regular Force—

Colonel L. W. Thornton, O.B.E., relinquishes the appointment of G.S.O.I., Headquarters, N.Z. Division, and is appointed Senior Officer, Regular Cadre, Headquarters, N.Z. Division, in addition to his present appointment of O.R.A., Headquarters, N.Z. Divisional Artillery. Dated 18th July, 1951.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY

Regular Force—

Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Colonel) H. E. Gilbert, D.S.O., O.B.E., relinquishes the temporary rank of Colonel. Dated 17th July, 1951.

Lieutenant-Colonel H. E. Gilbert, D.S.O., O.B.E., is appointed G.S.O.I., Headquarters, N.Z. Division, in addition to his present appointment of Director of Plans and Intelligence, Army Headquarters. Dated 18th July, 1951.

Territorial Force—

6th Light Anti-aircraft Regiment, R.N.Z.A.—

Lieutenant R. S. Rowe is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, with the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 3rd July, 1951.

11th Coast Regiment, R.N.Z.A.—

Captain S. H. Diehl, from the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 11th Coast Regiment, R.N.Z.A., to be Captain, with seniority from 2nd March, 1950. Dated 1st May, 1951.

14th Composite Anti-aircraft Regiment, R.N.Z.A.—

Captain L. de V. Gilbert, M.C., from the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Captain, with seniority from 3rd January, 1950. Dated 31st March, 1951.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) J. T. Wickham is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, with the rank of Captain. Dated 24th June, 1951.

Lieutenant H. D. Leyden, from the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 1st Heavy Mortar Battery, R.N.Z.A., to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 14th October, 1947. Dated 30th June, 1951.

Lieutenant J. C. F. Joplin, from the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 10th May, 1950. Dated 30th June, 1951.

Captain T. W. Bate, M.A. (Hons.), is granted an extension of his short-service commission for a period of two years as from 29th June, 1951.

Temp. Captain R. P. A. Probert, 1st Battalion, is transferred to to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own), with the rank of Captain, with seniority from 1st September, 1946, and is seconded to the Fiji Military Forces. Dated 9th July, 1951.
