Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Mount Herbert County Council.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section 13 of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the scenic reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act) in the Mount Herbert County Council, subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say:—

The period for which the control of the reserve is hereby vested shall be five years from the date hereof, unless the reservation is previously altered or revoked under the said Act.

The said Council shall prepare a report each year, ending on the 31st day of March, together with a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the said reserve. Such report and statement shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act as soon as possible after the close of the year.

The said Council shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT
RESERVE 4105, situated in Block III, Halswell Survey District: Area, 1 rood 14·2 perches, more or less.

Lands Reserved in the North Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, and Otago Land Districts

WHEREAS by section 167 of the Land Act, 1948, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart as a reserve, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral lease or pastoral occupation licence, any Crown land for any purpose which, in his opinion, is desirable in the public interest, and notice thereof shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette.
Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby reserve, subject to the reservations and conditions imposed by section 59 of the Land Act, 1948, and subject also to the reservations imposed by section 8 of the Coal Mines Amendment Act, 1950, the lands in the North Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, and Otago Land Districts, described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be reserved.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army:—
THE ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY
Regular Force—
Lieutenant-Colonel H. E. Gilbert, D.S.O., O.B.E., to be Temp. Colonel w.e.f. 13th June, 1951, and will retain that rank whilst accompanying the Hon. the Minister of Defence to a Conference of Commonwealth Ministers.
Territorial Force—
3rd Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A.—
Captain J. Harper is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 3rd Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A., with the rank of Captain, with seniority from 28th April, 1948. Dated 16th May, 1951.
Captain R. G. Bell is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 3rd Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A., with the rank of Captain, with seniority from 3rd April, 1950. Dated 6th February, 1951.
Temp. Captain G. B. Johnson is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, with the rank of Captain. Dated 19th March, 1951.

Lieutenant C. E. Dalwood is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 1st Armoured Car Regiment (New Zealand Scottish), R.N.Z.A.C., with the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 1st December, 1948. Dated 12th May, 1951.

Robert Gillion, B.A. (Cantab.), late Lieutenant-Commander, R.N.V.R.) is granted a short-service commission for a period of three years as from 11th June, 1951, in the rank of Captain, with seniority from 11th June, 1949, and is appointed Education Officer, Waiouru Camp. Dated 11th June, 1951.

The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own)—
Major A. J. Neil, M.B.E., E.D., from the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry Corps, to be Major, with seniority from 28th February, 1942, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 1st May, 1950.
