Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Whangarei, the County of Whangarei, and the Manaia Riding of the County of Whangarei

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the Borough of Whangarei are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said Borough having been altered by Order in Council made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, dated the 31st day of January, 1951, and published in Gazette No. 5 of the 1st day of February, 1951.

And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the County of Whangarei affected by the said Order in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto.

And, in further pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the Manaia Riding of the County of Whangarei affected by the said Order in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Third Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE

Boundaries of the Borough of Whangarei

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point being the intersection of the southern boundary of Lot 1, as shown on the plan numbered 30191, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland, being part of Allotment 2, Parish of Whangarei, with the middle of the Otangarei Stream and running south-easterly generally down the middle of the said stream to and down the right bank of the Hatea River to the southernmost corner of Mair Park; thence along a right line across the said Hatea River to the south-western corner of the northern part of Parahaki No. 1 Block; thence easterly and southerly generally along the south-western boundary of the said Parahaki No. 1 Block, to and along the generally western boundary of Parahaki Native Reserve, along the generally south-western boundary of part of Parahaki No. 3 Block, to and along the western and south-western boundaries of part of Allotment 2, Parahaki Parish, as shown on the plan numbered 17205, deposited as aforesaid, along the generally north-western boundaries of parts of Allotments 1 and 1A of the said parish as shown on the plan numbered 10165, deposited as aforesaid, along part of Allotment 1, Parahaki Parish, aforesaid, as shown on the plan numbered 5192, deposited as aforesaid, and along a right line being the production of the last-mentioned boundary across Parua Bay Road to its southern side; thence easterly generally along the southern side of the said road to a dredged channel which forms the south-eastern boundary of Reclamation No. 5; thence westerly generally along the northern side of that channel for a distance of 810 links, approximately; thence along the edge of a channel forming the south-western boundary of Reclamation No. 5 aforesaid, 800 links, approximately; thence along the south-eastern boundary of Reclamation No. 4 for a distance of approximately 234 links; thence along the foreshore following the rock retaining-wall forming the generally south-western and north-western boundaries of the said Reclamation No. 4, the southern side of the said Parua Bay Road, along the rock retaining-wall forming the generally south-western and western boundaries of Reclamation No. 3; again along the south-western side of Parua Bay Road aforesaid, along the stone wall forming the generally southern boundary of another reclamation (Esplanade), and again along the southern side of said Parua Bay Road to the Victoria Bridge; thence along the southern side of the said bridge, across the Hatea River, aforesaid, to its western side; thence south-easterly generally along the foreshore of the Whangarei Harbour, to and up the left bank of the Waiarohia River (old course) to a point in line with the embankment forming the north-western boundary of a reclamation containing 16 acres 2 roods 18 perches, more or less; thence along a right line across the said river, to and along the said embankment forming the north-western, north-eastern, and eastern boundaries of the said reclamation, to and along the north-western side of a channel to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Lot 27, as shown on the plan numbered 37927, lodged in the Auckland Land Registry Office, being part of Hihiana Block, part Whangarei Harbour Board Endowment, and part Okara Block; thence along a right line across the aforesaid channel, to and along the north-eastern boundary of Lot 27, aforesaid, to and along the north-western and north-eastern boundaries of part Okara Block, and again along the north-eastern side of the Port Whangarei Road to its intersection with the middle point of Haha or Limeburner’s Creek; thence south-westerly generally along a right line crossing the said Port Whangarei Road at right angles and passing through a point midway across the bridge to the north-eastern side of the North Auckland Main Trunk Railway; thence westerly generally along the north-eastern side of the said railway to the eastern boundary of part Okara Block aforesaid; thence along a right line across the said railway, to and along the eastern boundary of Lot 4, as shown on the plan numbered 26761, deposited as aforesaid, being part of the aforesaid Okara Block, to a public road; thence along a right line across the said public road to Peg No. XXVII, as shown on the plan numbered 22721 lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Auckland, along a series of right lines bearing 257° 36′ distant 1045·3 links, bearing 265° 35′ distant 571·4 links, bearing 239° 06′ distant 205·3 links, bearing 275° 09′ 30″ distant 440·0 links, bearing 312° 55′ distant 332·2 links, and bearing 300° 12′ distant 95·0 links, to the middle of a public road; thence along the middle of the said road forming the northern boundary of Section 1, Block XII, Purua Survey District, along the middle of High Street, to and along the middle of Mount Pleasant Street, the middle of Otaike Road to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1, as shown on the plan numbered 36597, deposited as aforesaid, being part of Raumanga No. 2 Block; thence along a right line to and along the north-eastern boundary of the said Lot 1, along the north-eastern boundary of part Lot 17, as shown on the plan numbered 374, deposited as aforesaid, being part of the said Raumanga No. 2 Block, along the north-eastern and north-western boundaries of another part of Raumanga No. 2 Block, to and along the north-eastern boundaries of Lots 1 and 6, as shown on the plan numbered 32891, deposited as aforesaid, being part of the southern portion of Raumanga No. 2 Block aforesaid, and along a right line being the production of the last-mentioned boundary across Raumanga Road to the middle of the Raumanga Stream; thence up the middle of the said stream to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Lot 1, as shown on the plan numbered 34024, deposited as aforesaid, being part of the northern portion of Raumanga No. 2 Block; thence along a right line to and along the eastern boundary of Lot 1 aforesaid, along the southern boundary generally of Lot 1, as shown on the plan numbered 34996 lodged in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland, being another part of the northern portion of Raumanga No. 2 Block aforesaid, and along the southern side of a public road to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Lot 1, as shown on the plan numbered 3158, deposited as aforesaid, being part of Raumanga No. 2 Block aforesaid; thence along a right line across the said road to and along the eastern boundary of Lot 1 aforesaid, to its north-eastern corner; thence along a right line across the Maunu Road to the south-eastern corner of part of Lot 3, as shown on the plan numbered 17296, deposited as aforesaid, being part Horahora No. 2 Block; thence along the eastern boundary of the said part Lot 3, to and along the southern and eastern boundaries of part of Horahora No. 2 Block, as shown on the plan numbered 568, deposited as aforesaid, to and along the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1, as shown on the plan numbered 13934, deposited as aforesaid, being part of Horahora No. 2 Block aforesaid, along the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries generally of part of Horahora No. 2 Block, as shown on the plan numbered 16342 lodged in the office of the Chief Surveyor at Auckland (part of the Coronation Scenic Reserve), to and along the north-eastern boundaries of Allotments S. 77 and N. 77, Whangarei Parish, the abutment of a public road, along the north-eastern boundary of Allotment 71 of the said parish, to and along the south-eastern boundaries of Allotments 66, 67, and 68, along the southern boundary of Allotment 69, all the aforesaid allotments being of the said Whangarei Parish, and along a right line, being the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of the Waiarohia River; thence northerly and westerly generally up the middle of the said river, to and up the middle of a tributary of the aforesaid river running through part of Allotment 61, Parish of Whangarei, aforesaid, to the southern side of the Whau Valley Road; thence northerly along the south-eastern side of the said road to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Lot 3, as shown on the plan numbered 26375, deposited as aforesaid, being part of Allotment 2 of the said parish; thence along a right line across the said Whau Valley Road, to and along the eastern boundaries of Lot 3 aforesaid, and Lots 2 and 1, as shown on the plan numbered 26375 aforesaid, to the northernmost corner of the last-mentioned Lot, all the aforesaid lots being part of Allotment 2 of the said Whangarei Parish; thence along a right line to the westernmost corner of Lot 1, as shown on the plan numbered 14501, deposited as aforesaid, being another part of Allotment 2, Parish of Whangarei; thence southerly along the south-western boundary of Lot 1 aforesaid, to and along the south-western boundary of Lot 2, as shown on the aforesaid plan numbered 14501, along the western boundary of the land comprised and described in Certificate of Title, Volume 529, folio 174 (Auckland Land Registry), being part of the aforesaid Allotment 2, to and along the northern boundaries of Lots 1, 2, and 4, as shown on the plan numbered 35522, deposited as aforesaid, being part of Allotment 2 aforesaid, along the western, north-western, and north-eastern boundaries of Lot 1, as shown on the plan numbered 34275, deposited as aforesaid, being another part of the said Allotment 2, to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 1, as shown on the plan numbered 35576, deposited as aforesaid, being part of Allotment 2 aforesaid; thence along a right line across the Whangarei-Kamo Road, to and along the north-western boundaries of Lots 1 and 3, shown on the aforesaid plan numbered 35576, along a right line across the North Auckland Main Trunk Railway, to and along the north-western boundaries of other parts of Allotment 2, as shown on the plan numbered 3459, deposited as aforesaid, and the plan numbered 551, deposited as aforesaid, along the north-western boundary of Lot 1, as shown on the plan numbered 21219, deposited as aforesaid, being part of the aforesaid Allotment 2, and along the southern boundary of Lot 1, as shown on the aforesaid plan numbered 30191, to the middle of the Otangarei Stream, the point of commencement.

Boundaries of the County of Whangarei

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point in Block VIII, Russell Survey District, where the nothern boundary of Whangaroa-Ngaiotonga 4F Block meets the ocean and running south-easterly generally along the coast to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Allotment 309, Waipu Parish, at Bream Tail; thence westerly generally along a right line, to and along the north-western boundary of the said Allotment 309, along a right line across a public road, to and along the north-eastern, northern, and western boundaries of Allotment 351 of the said parish, along the northern boundaries of Allotments 336, and 337A, crossing an intervening public road, along the northern boundaries of part of Allotment 235, all the aforesaid allotments being of the said Waipu Parish, to and along the northern boundary of part of Section 1, Block XI, Waipu Survey District, along a right line across a public road, to and along the northern boundary of the other part of the said Section 1 and the north-western boundary of part of Section 5, Block X, Waipu Survey District, and along a right line
