Board of Trade Notice No. 5.—Review of Import Licensing

Board of Trade,
Wellington, 25th May, 1951.

NOTICE is hereby given—

(1) That in response to Board of Trade Notices Nos. 1 and 2, the Board has received a statement of certain objections to the exemption from import licensing in respect of goods from other than scheduled countries comprised in the following items as set out in the 1951 Import Licensing Schedule, namely :—

T.I. 239 (2) .. Fancy goods and toys; combs, hair and toilet (excluding costume jewellery, and meccano and similar model engineering sets and model building sets);

T.I. 262 .. Toilet preparations, and perfumery, n.e.i., including perfumed oil;

Ex T.I. 353 (4) .. Electric ranges;

Ex T.I. 353 (8) (c) .. Refrigerators;

Ex T.I. 353 (8) (c) .. Washing machines;

(2) That persons, firms, or organizations considering themselves or their members likely to be materially affected by the continuance of the import licensing of these goods and desirous of lodging an objection to such continuance, must do so in writing by sending five copies of the statement of objections addressed to the undersigned so as to reach him on or before the 22nd June, 1951;

(3) That each statement lodged as above should relate only to one of the above items and should state clearly but concisely the grounds of the objection to continuance; and

(4) That in the event of the Board desiring to hear oral representations in regard to the objections, notice will be given to both the objectors to the exemption from licensing and the objectors to the continuance of licensing of the time or times fixed for hearings.

Regulations Respecting the Blue Ensign of H.M. Fleet (Naval Reserve Flag)

KING’S REGULATIONS AND ADMIRALTY INSTRUCTIONS (ARTICLE 126)

WITH reference to clause 1 (b) of the above regulations as published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 51, dated 29th July, 1926, the number of reservists in addition to the Commanding Officer, who must form part of the crew in order that the ship may be eligible to fly the Blue Ensign will, for the remainder of the year 1951, be four (4).

An Asian manned merchant ship which in addition to the Commanding Officer has two (2) reservists in its crew may during this period achieve qualification; and Commodores on the active or retired list of the Royal Naval Reserve or Commonwealth Naval Reserve may be allowed to wear the Blue Ensign in their own right without the requirement of a minimum number of reservists.

Notice to Persons Affected by Applications for Licences Under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936

Pharmacy Industry

E. Douglas, 12 Freyberg Avenue, Christchurch, has applied for a licence to operate a new pharmacy at 405 Ilam Road, Bryndwr, Christchurch.

C. W. Taylor, 36 Victoria Street, Pukekohe, has applied for a licence to operate a new pharmacy at 168 Great South Road, Manurewa.

Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit

D. M. Tooley, Ltd., 6–10 Upper Queen Street, Auckland, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from six pumps to be installed on premises at 6–10 Upper Queen Street, Auckland.

J. R. and M. D. Port, Station Road, Kiwitahi, Morrinsville, have applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on garage premises at Station Road, Kiwitahi, Morrinsville.

Belcher’s Welding Service, Ltd., Pokeno, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on engineering premises at Pokeno.

A. H., L. U., J. A., and A. G. Sonner, Waipu, have applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on contracting premises at Waipu.

Kaiwaka Lime, Ltd., Kaiwaka, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on lime works premises at Kaiwaka.

D. S. Laurie, Mamaranui, Dargaville, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on store premises at Mamaranui, Dargaville.

Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than 14th June, 1951, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender. All communications should be addressed to Secretary, Bureau of Industry, C.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.

PURSUANT to the Control of Prices Act, 1947, the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, hereby makes the following amending Price Order :—

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 1248 and shall be read together with and deemed part of Price Order No. 789* (hereinafter referred to as the principal Order).

  2. This Order shall come into force on the 31st day of May, 1951.

  3. The principal Order is hereby amended by revoking the Schedule thereto and substituting the Schedule to this Order.
