Classification of Roads in Manunui Town District

PURSUANT to regulation 3 (5) of the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations 1950, the Minister of Transport doth hereby revoke the Warrant dated the 5th day of January, 1950,* altering the Manunui Town Board’s proposed classification of the roads situated in the Manunui Town District and doth hereby further alter the said Town Board’s proposed classification of the roads as described in the Schedule hereto and doth approve of such altered classification as so described.

SCHEDULE

MANUNUI TOWN DISTRICT

Roads Classified in Class Two

Miro Street, Rata Street, Rimu street.

Roads Classified in Class Three

Manunui–Owhango Main Highway No. 423, Matai Street, Nikau Street, Tawa Street, Titoki Street, Maukuroa Road, Waikura Terrace, Tunekotekote Road, Maire Road, Mission Road, Mahoe Road.

Declaring Trailer Units Forming Part of a Multi-axled Motor-vehicle to be Trailers

PURSUANT to subsection (1) of section 2 of the Transport Act, 1949, the Minister of Transport doth hereby determine that the three vehicles specified in the Schedule hereto, each forming part of a multi-axled vehicle as defined by section 2 of the said Act, shall be deemed to be trailers.

SCHEDULE

THREE trailer units, Chassis Nos. T. 8145, T. 8146, and T. 8147, respectively, owned by N. P. Croft and Company, Limited.

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of Section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949

IN terms of section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949, the Minister of Transport doth hereby declare the areas in the Schedule hereto to be closely populated localities for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour by the said section.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Waimairi County—

All that area adjacent to Christchurch City consisting of those portions of roads hereinafter described—

  1. The Marshlands – New Brighton Main Highway No. 256, commencing at the northern boundary of Christchurch City, proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction and terminating at the junction of the said main highway with Bower Avenue.

  2. Wairakei Road, commencing at its junction with the Ilam Road Main Highway No. 635 and terminating at the junction of the said road with Grahams Road.

  3. Winters Road, commencing at its junction with the Picton–Christchurch State Highway No. 51 and terminating at the junction of the said road with Grimsey’s Road.

All that area at Stewart’s Gully, consisting of Stewart’s Gully Road, commencing at its junction with the Picton–Christchurch State Highway No. 51 and terminating at the Government Railway Crossing.

Notice of Intention to Take Land in Block X, Christchurch Survey District, for a University College

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take land described in the Schedule hereto for a university college: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Fendalton, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken:

47 acres 37·5 perches

Being Lots 1 to 209 (both inclusive), D.P. 7955, part of Rural Section 12.

Situated in Block X, Christchurch Survey District (Canterbury R.D.).

In the Canterbury Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 132525, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Appointing Wednesday as the Statutory Closing-day in the New Brighton Area of the City of Christchurch

WHEREAS the Christchurch City Council has failed to decide, pursuant to the provisions of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, as amended by section 4 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1945, what working-day in the week shall be the statutory closing-day for shops in the New Brighton area of the City of Christchurch as defined by the said section 4:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon him by section 18 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, the Minister of Labour doth hereby appoint Wednesday to be the statutory closing-day for shops in the said area on and from the 12th day of March, 1951.

Dated at Wellington, this 8th day of March, 1951.

WHEREAS the Mayors or Chairmen, as the case may be, of the local authorities of the respective separate districts mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto have duly notified the Minister of Labour that the days decided on as the statutory closing-days in their respective districts, pursuant to the provisions of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, are the days set opposite their respective names in the second column of the said Schedule:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon him by the said Act, the Minister of Labour doth hereby appoint that the said respective days shall be the statutory closing-days for shops in the said respective districts on and from the 12th day of March, 1951.
