DUTY IMPOSED ON RETAILERS

  1. Every retailer who offers or exposes for sale in any shop any oranges or grapefruit to which this Order applies shall keep in a prominent position in such proximity to the oranges or grapefruit to which it relates as to be obviously in relation thereto a ticket, placard, or label on which shall be stated in legible and prominent characters the retail price per pound of the oranges or grapefruit.

Exempted Services (Control of Prices) Notice 1951, No. 1

PURSUANT to the Control of Prices Act, 1947, the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, hereby makes the following Order :—

  1. This Order shall come into force on the 22nd day of February, 1951.

  2. The Board of Trade (Bread Price) Regulations 1936* are hereby revoked in their application to bread sold at Stewart Island.

  3. Every approval given under section 16 of the Control of Prices Act, 1947, and relating to bread sold at Stewart Island is hereby revoked.

  4. The provisions of clauses 2 and 3 hereof shall be deemed to have come into force prior to the coming into force of clause 5 hereof.

  5. Pursuant to section 18 of the Control of Prices Act, 1947, notice is hereby given that bread sold at Stewart Island is exempt from the provisions of Part III of the Control of Prices Act, 1947.

Prices for Butter and Cheese Intended for Export

NOTICE is hereby given that the New Zealand Dairy Products Marketing Commission, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon it by the Dairy Products Marketing Commission Act, 1947, has fixed the prices to be paid for all butter and cheese manufactured from milk or cream delivered to a dairy factory from the 15th day of February, 1951, to the 31st day of July, 1951, and acquired by the Commission, pursuant to Part II of the said Act, as under :—

  1. In the case of creamery butter to which is assigned one or other of the following respective grades and which is allotted points in grading within the range of the following respective grade points under the Dairy-produce Regulations 1938—

    (a) For “ Finest ” grade, 94 points or over, the price of 28·7041d. per pound.

    (b) For “ Finest ” grade, 93 points or over but under 94 points, the basic price of 28·5791d. per pound.

    (c) For “ First ” grade, 92 points or over but under 93 points, the price of 28·5166d. per pound.

    (d) For “ First ” grade, 90 points or over but under 92 points, the price of 28·3291d. per pound.

    (e) For “ Second ” grade, the price of 27·8291d. per pound.

  2. In the case of whey butter to which is assigned one or other of the following grades under the said regulations—

    (a) For “ First ” grade, the price of 26·1589d. per pound.

    (b) For “ Second ” grade, the price of 25·6589d. per pound.

  3. In the case of full-cream cheese to which is assigned one or other of the following respective grades and to which is allotted points in grading within the range of the following respective grade points under the said regulations—

    (a) For “ Finest ” grade, 94 points or over, the price of 15·81425d. per pound.

    (b) For “ Finest ” grade, 93 points or over but under 94 points, the price of 15·783d. per pound.

    (c) For “ First ” grade, 92 points or over but under 93 points, the basic price of 15·658d. per pound.

    (d) For “ First ” grade, 91 points or over but under 92 points, the price of 15·5955d. per pound.

    (e) For “ Second ” grade, the price of 15·4080d. per pound.

  4. The prices set out in paragraphs 1 to 3 Gazette notice, New Zealand Gazette No. 57, 7th September, 1950, page 1696, are amended accordingly.

Government Service Tribunal.—Order No. 33

In the matter of section 9 (e) of the Government Service Tribunal Act, 1948, and in the matter of an application dated the 9th day of February, 1951, duly lodged by the Director of Education.

THE Government Service Tribunal, having heard and considered the application of the applicant, doth hereby order—

  1. This Order shall apply to all teachers and teachers in training who are for the time being employed in New Zealand by an Education Board, Secondary School Board, Technical School Board, Free Kindergarten Association, or by the Public Service Commission.

  2. On and from 15th day of February, 1951, all Principal Orders made by the Tribunal as from time to time amended and as enuring at the date of this Order shall be amended in manner following, that is to say :—

    (a) Subject to the following provisions of this Order, all rates of remuneration including time and piece wages and other special payments prescribed in the said Principal Orders or payable by reference to the Education (Salaries and Staffing) Regulations 1948 (Serial number 1948/194), including lodging-allowance and overtime, shall be increased by an amount equal to 15 per cent. thereof.

    (b) Orders numbered 21 and 32 shall be revoked and the percentage increases granted by paragraph (a) above shall be calculated as if Orders numbered 21 and 32 had not been made.

    (c) There shall be excluded from the scope of this Order all allowances prescribed in any of the said Principal Orders in respect of tools, bicycles, motor-vehicles, protective or special clothing, or special footwear.

  3. This Order is made for the purpose of conforming with the General Order made on the 30th day of January, 1951, by the Court of Arbitration pursuant to the Economic Stabilization Regulations 1950, and shall amend Principal Orders Nos. 9 and 10 (as from time to time amended and as enuring as at the date on which this Order is deemed to take effect).

N.Z. FOREST SERVICE NOTICE

Sale of Logs by Public Tender.—Southland Conservancy.—Southland Land District

THE Conservator of Forests, Invercargill, will receive tenders for the purchase of an annual supply of not less than 250,000 cubic feet, nor more than 300,000 cubic feet of logs of exotic pine species, mainly P. radiata, which will be produced in the Pebbly Hills State Forest, situated in Blocks III and IV, Forest Hill Hundred, and Blocks I, VI, and VII, Lindhurst Hundred, Southland Land District.

Tenders which must be in writing and accompanied by a cheque to yield £100 will be received at the office of the Conservator of Forests, Invercargill, not later than 4 p.m. on the 20th April, 1951.

Tenderers will be required to offer a price per cubic foot for logs which will be sold on the ground at loading-sites in the forest in lengths suitable for transportation by road by logging-trucks.

Upset Price—

The upset price which is based on sawn-timber prices ruling at the 1st August, 1950, is 9d. per cubic foot.

Period of Sale—

10 years from 1st September, 1952, or such earlier date as may be mutually arranged, with a right of renewal for a further period of 10 years.

The highest or any tender not necessarily accepted.

Full details of terms and conditions of this sale are obtainable on request from the Conservator of Forests, Invercargill, Director of Forestry, Wellington, or the District Ranger, New Zealand Forest Service, Dunedin.
