THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of Section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949

IN terms of section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949, the Minister of Transport doth hereby declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE

SITUATE within Piako County-

All that area at Waihou consisting of:

  1. Hamilton-Paeroa State Highway No. 17 (commencing at its junction with McCarthy Street and terminating at its junction with Second Avenue).
  2. Ngutumanga Road (commencing at its junction with the Hamilton-Paeroa State Highway No. 17 and terminating at its junction with First Street).

Amending Speed Limitation Imposed by Section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949

IN terms of section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, the Minister of Transport doth hereby revoke that portion of the Warrant dated the 21st day of December, 1936,* which applies to the portion of road described in the First Schedule hereto and doth hereby exclude the portion of road which is described in the Second Schedule hereto from limitation as to speed imposed by the said section.

FIRST SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Ngaruawahia Borough-

Ngaruawahia-Waingaro Main Highway No. 320 (all that portion from the eastern end of the Waipa River bridge to the western boundary of Ngaruawahia Borough a distance of approximately 40 chains).

SECOND SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Ngaruawahia Borough-

Ngaruawahia-Waingaro Main Highway No. 320 (all that portion commencing at a point 16 chains measured along the said main highway generally in a westerly and southerly direction from the western end of the Waipa River bridge and terminating at the western boundary of Ngaruawahia Borough).

PURSUANT to regulation 3 (5) of the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations 1950, the Minister of Transport doth hereby approve the Whakatane Borough Council's proposed classification of the roads described in the Schedule hereto and situated in Whakatane Borough.

Land Surveyors' Examination, February, 1951.-Australia and New Zealand

The Survey Board of New Zealand,
Wellington, 18th December, 1950.

IT is hereby notified for general information that the Survey Board, in conjunction with the Australian Surveyors' Boards, will conduct an examination of candidates for registration as surveyors, commencing at 9 a.m. on Monday, 19th February, 1951, at Wellington.

Candidates are notified that their applications, on the proper form, must reach the Secretary of the Board not later than Monday, 22nd January, 1951, and that the examination fee must be paid at the same time to the Secretary, from whom application forms and other particulars may be obtained.

Candidates presenting themselves for examination in any written subject or subjects may present themselves for examination at any Chief Surveyor's Office.

The oral and practical portion of the examination cannot be taken until the candidate's term of indentureship has been completed. Candidates for the oral and practical portion of the examination must sit in Wellington. Plans for this portion of the examination, the certificate, and other evidence required by regulation No. 31 of the Survey Examination Regulations 1943, must be forwarded not later than 1st March, 1951.

Releasing Land From the Provisions of Part I of the Maori Land Amendment Act, 1936

PURSUANT to subsection (2) of section 4 of the Maori Land Amendment Act, 1936, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby revokes, so far as it affects the land described in the Schedule hereto, a certain notice dated the 9th day of June, 1930, and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 45 of the 19th day of June, 1930, at page 1983, whereby the provisions of subsection (3) of section 23 of the Maori Land Amendment and Maori Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1929 (now Part I of the Maori Land Amendment Act, 1936), were applied to, inter alia, the said land and such land is hereby excluded from the Kaipara Development Scheme.
