THE following notice, received by the Right Hon. the Minister of Finance from the Chairman of the Takaka Town Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

TAKAKA TOWN BOARD

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Town District of Takaka taken on the 18th day of November, 1950, on the proposal of the Takaka Town Board to borrow the sum of sixteen hundred pounds for the demolition and re-erection of the Board’s sheds, the provision of a car parking area, and the purchase of plant :—

Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 33
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was .. 16

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

TAURANGA COUNTY COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers in the Katikati Township Water Supply Special Rating Area, in the County of Tauranga, taken on the 18th day of November, 1950, on the proposal of the Tauranga County Council to borrow the sum of £33,500, to be expended on the installation of a water supply for the Township of Katikati and its immediate environs :—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 67
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was .. 3

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

NOTICE OF RESULT OF POLLS OF PROPOSALS TO RAISE LOANS

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice of the results of a poll of the ratepayers of the City of Napier, taken on the 18th day of November, 1950, on the two proposals of the Napier City Council as below :—

(1) To borrow the sum of fifty-eight thousand eight hundred pounds (£58,800) by a loan to be known as General Works Loan, 1950, for the purpose of sealing streets and footpaths, constructing retaining walls, kerbing and channelling, culverts, stormwater drainage, street widening, purchasing plant, smoothing coat on road surfaces, and forming and metalling Battery Road.

Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 1,700
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 558

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

(2) To borrow the sum of eleven thousand four hundred pounds (£11,400) by a loan to be known as Streets Loan, 1950, for the purpose of forming, metalling, sealing, kerbing, and widening streets.

Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 1,740
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 519

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of ratepayers of the County of Coromandel was taken on the 18th November, 1950, on the proposal to raise a Special Loan of £4,700 for the purpose of reconstructing and adding a new wing to the Council Chambers :—

Installation of Aerial Beacon

Position : North-east extreme of Island, Lat., 40° 49′·7 S.; long., 174° 58′·4 E. (approx.). (Chart No. 695.)

Details : A red occulting light showing 40 flashes per minute, flash 1 sec., elevation 15 ft. above M.H.W.S. with a visible range from the air in clear weather of 15 to 20 miles, has been established in the above position and will be exhibited from 18th December, 1950, between the hours 1900 and 0200. Adjustment of equipment will probably be necessary and in consequence the beacon will be in the experimental stage for the first two weeks and may be extinguished for certain periods during that time. The light will be visible from seaward over certain arcs.
