Rangitaiki Land Drainage: Notice of Making and Levying General Rates

I, ERNEST BOWYER CORBETT, Minister of Lands, in the exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, and its amendments, do hereby make and levy, on the unimproved value of all land within the district constituted under the said Act, the general rates to meet maintenance costs for the period 1st April, 1950, to 31st March, 1951, as described in the Schedule hereto.

The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on 11th December, 1950, together with the special rates already made and levied.

The rate-book of the district is open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Room 8, First Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the Land Drainage Office of the Ministry of Works at Thornton, near Whakatane, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.

SCHEDULE

CLASS A: On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the arbitrators appointed under section 6 of the Rangitaiki Land Drainage Act, 1910, five pence and eighty-six one-hundredths of a penny (5·86d.) in the pound.

CLASS B: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B, threepence and ninety-one one-hundredths of a penny (3·91d.) in the pound.

CLASS C: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, one penny and ninety-five one-hundredths of a penny (1·95d.) in the pound.

CLASS D: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class D, sixty-five one-hundredths of a penny (0·65d.) in the pound.

Agreement for Grant of Right-of-way and Grant of Lease in Favour of Percival John Cooper Jessep, of Tangoio, Farmer, Over Land in Block IV, Puketapu Survey District, Assented to

WHEREAS by an Agreement dated the 18th day of August, 1950, Percival John Cooper Jessep, of Tangoio, farmer, agreed to His Majesty taking, under the Public Works Act, 1928, his leasehold estates in an area of approximately 39 acres 1 rood 20 perches, being Section 33, Block IV, Puketapu Survey District, for the purposes of a Soil Conservation Reserve :

And whereas the said Percival John Cooper Jessep was entitled to compensation for the taking of his leasehold estate in the said area of 39 acres 1 rood 20 perches :

And whereas the Minister of Works has agreed to grant to the said Percival John Cooper Jessep, a right-of-way over part Sections 33 and 37, Block IV, Puketapu Survey District, and a lease of Section 34, Block IV, Puketapu Survey District, containing approximately 78 acres 2 roods, in full satisfaction of the said compensation :

And whereas the said Percival John Cooper Jessep has agreed to accept such grant of right-of-way and grant of lease in full satisfaction of the said compensation.

Now, therefore, the Minister of Works doth hereby give notice, in pursuance of section 97 of the Public Works Act, 1928 that he assents to the agreement hereinbefore referred to.

Notice of Intention to Take Land in Block IX, Mapara Survey District, for a Recreation-ground

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for a recreation-ground: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Mangapehi and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 4 acres 1 rood 15 perches.

Being part Rangitoto Tuhua 68G 2D 2 Block.

Situated in Block IX, Mapara Survey District (Taranaki R.D.). (S.O. 8408.)

In the Taranaki Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 132880, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured orange.

Notice of Intention to Take Additional Land in Block XVI, Tokomaru Survey District, for a Maori School

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the additional land described in the Schedule hereto for a Maori school: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Tolaga Bay and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of additional land required to be taken: 1 rood 37·3 perches.

Being part Lot 3, D.P. 3087 (part Anaura Block), and part Anaura Block.

Situated in Block XVI, Tokomaru Survey District (Gisborne R.D.). (S.O. 4424.)

In the Gisborne Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 130511, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Approval of Testing Officer Under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940

IN terms of regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby approve of the person named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereto being a testing officer under the said regulations for the authority specified in Column 1 of the said Schedule.

PURSUANT to regulation 3 (5) of the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations 1950, the Minister of Transport doth hereby alter the Kiwitea County Council’s proposed classification of the roads described in the Schedule hereto and situated in Kiwitea County and doth hereby approve such altered classification as described in the said Schedule.
