Alterations to the Scale of Charges Upon the New Zealand Government Railways

IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act, 1949, and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, I, William Stanley Goosman, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations to the General Scale of Charges made on the 13th day of April, 1939, and published in the Supplement dated the 19th day of April, 1939, to the New Zealand Gazette of the 13th day of April, 1939, in force on the New Zealand Government Railways open for traffic.

PASSENGERS

4. Sleeping-berths

Paragraph 14: Omit this paragraph and substitute the following:—

14. Passengers who desire to cancel sleeping berths previously paid for may, provided application is made not later than four hours prior to the scheduled departure time of the train from its starting station, be granted a refund of the sleeping-berth fee less the prescribed deduction.

*Bona fide* personal luggage (exclusive of workmen’s tools or samples), up to 1 cwt., free.
Excess luggage (including workmen’s tools or samples) computed on weight, outwards, 4d. per cwt.; inwards, 5d. per cwt. or fraction thereof. Minimum charge 9d.
Bicycles, 1s. 6d. each.
Bicycles, motor, 2s. 6d. each.
Bicycles, motor, with side-car, 5s. each.
Sewing-machines, outwards, 1s. 6d. each; inwards, 1s. 11d. each.
