HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to
approve of the following appointments, promotions, trans-
fers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand
Military Forces :-
THE ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY
Regular Force—
Captain R. H. F. Holloway to be Temp. Major. Dated 1st
November, 1949.
Captain J. F. Spring to be Temp. Major. Dated 1st November,
1949.
Captain and Quartermaster H. G. Salt, M.B.E., having reached
the normal age for retirement, is transferred to the Supernumerary
List, N.Z. Regular Force, with his present rank and seniority.
Dated 4th February, 1950.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) H. L. Jones to be Captain. Dated
14th December, 1949.
Territorial Force—
Major S. F. Catchpole, M.C., from the Retired List, to be Major,
with seniority from 13th May, 1947, and is posted to the 1st Field
Regiment, R.N.Z.A. Dated 1st December, 1948.
Captain E. C. W. Nathan, from the Reserve of Officers, Supple-
mentary List, to be Major, with seniority from 9th November, 1947,
is posted to the 1st Heavy Mortar Battery, N.R.Z.A., and is appointed
O.C. of the Battery. Dated 1st October, 1949.
Captain L. F. Raven, from the Retired List, to be Captain,
with seniority from 11th January, 1947, and is posted to the 1st
Locating Battery, R.N.Z.A. Dated 1st December, 1948.
Captain E. L. Ryan, from the Retired List, to be Captain, with
seniority from 22nd March, 1947, and is posted to the 1st Locating
Battery, R.N.Z.A. Dated 1st December, 1948.
Temp. Lieutenant I. J. Takle, from the Reserve of Officers,
Supplementary List, to be Captain, with seniority from 28th Feb-
ruary, 1948, and is posted to the 1st Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A.
Dated 1st December, 1948.
Lieutenant K. C. Jacka, from the Reserve of Officers, Supple-
mentary List, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 1st March,
1947, and is posted to the 1st Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A. Dated
1st December, 1948.
Lieutenant G. J. Austin, from the Reserve of Officers, Supple-
mentary List, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 9th August,
1947, and is posted to the 1st Locating Battery, R.N.Z.A. Dated
1st December, 1948.
Lieutenant J. L. Naylor, from the Reserve of Officers, Supple-
mentary List, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 31st December,
1947, and is posted to the 1st Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A. Dated
1st December, 1948.
Temp. Lieutenant R. M. Agnew, from the Reserve of Officers,
Supplementary List, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 20th
January, 1948, and is posted to the 1st Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A.
Dated 1st December, 1948.
Lieutenant A. Scott ceases to be posted to the 5th Field Regi-
ment, R.N.Z.A. (S.P.), and is posted to the 1st Heavy Mortar Battery,
R.N.Z.A., with the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 14th
June, 1947. Dated 1st October, 1949.
Lieutenant A. G. Northover ceases to be posted to the 5th Field
Regiment, R.N.Z.A. (S.P.), and is posted to the 1st Heavy Mortar
Battery, R.N.Z.A., with the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from
7th July, 1947. Dated 1st October, 1949.
Temp. 2nd Lieutenant S. C. Purdy, from the Reserve of Officers,
Supplementary List, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from 19th
September, 1947, and is posted to the 13th Composite Anti-Aircraft
Regiment, R.N.Z.A. Dated 1st December, 1948.
2nd Lieutenant N. O. Mangin ceases to be posted to the
5th Anti-Tank Regiment, R.N.Z.A., and is posted to the 3rd Field
Regiment, R.N.Z.A., with seniority from 12th May, 1947. Dated
11th August, 1949.
2nd Lieutenant N. O. Mangin, 3rd Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A.,
to be Lieutenant. Dated 11th August, 1949.
2nd Lieutenant H. J. Blick ceases to be posted to the 5th Field
Regiment, R.N.Z.A. (S.P.), and is posted to the 1st Heavy Mortar
Battery, R.N.Z.A., with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority
from 7th November, 1947. Dated 1st October, 1949.
THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS
Territorial Force—
2nd Lieutenant R. G. F. Kingscote (late Captain, Indian Army),
from the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Captain,
with seniority from 9th June, 1947, and is posted to the 1st Divi-
sional Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C. (New Zealand Scottish). Dated 1st
December, 1948.

Regular Force—
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) K. C. Fenton to be Captain. Dated

Major George Simpkins Rogers, from the Retired List, to be
Temp. Captain (on prob.) and is posted for duty to the Army School,
Trentham. Dated 16th January, 1950.
Territorial Force—
The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own)—
2nd Lieutenant E. D. G. Mann ceases to be posted to the 1st
Battalion and is seconded to the Avondale College Cadets with the
rank of 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from 19th May, 1945. Dated
15th November, 1949.
The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own)—
Major E. E. McCurdy, from the Reserve of Officers, Regimental
List, The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington’s Own), to be
Major, with seniority from 7th July, 1947, and is posted to the
1st Battalion. Dated 5th January, 1950.
Temp. Lieutenant R. C. Allen, 1st Battalion, is posted to the
Retired List with the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 5th January,

Territorial Force—
Temp. Lieutenant M. C. Baker, from the Reserve of Officers,
Supplementary List, to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 17th
June, 1948, and is posted to the 1st Divisional Transport Company,

THE ROYAL N.Z. DENTAL CORPS.
Regular Force—
Keith Neville Sandford, B.D.S., is granted a short-service
commission for a period of three years as from 4th January, 1950,
in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 4th January, 1946,
and is attached to Dental Section, Shelly Bay. Dated 4th January,
1950.
Territorial Force—
Major E. B. Reilly, D.D.S. (Layola), from the Retired List,
to be Major, with seniority from 16th June, 1945, and is posted to
the 3rd Mobile Dental Unit, R.N.Z.D.C. Dated 1st December,
