Altering and Redefining the Boundaries of the Hokonui Rabbit District.—(Notice No. Ag. 4925)

THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, and to section 29 of the Rabbit Nuisance Amendment Act, 1947, His Excellency the Governor-General, at the request of the Minister of Agriculture, made on the recommendation of the Rabbit Destruction Council, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby—

(1) Alter and redefine the boundaries of the Hokonui Rabbit District by adding thereto the areas of land the boundaries of which are described in the First Schedule hereto:

(2) Declare that the boundaries of the said district as so altered and redefined shall be those set forth in the Second Schedule hereto; and, further,

(3) Declare that this Order in Council shall come into force on the day following publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.


FIRST SCHEDULE

DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF THE AREAS TO BE ADDED TO THE HOKONUI RABBIT DISTRICT

FIRST, all that parcel of land situated in the Southland Land District, containing by estimation 8,190 acres, more or less, and bounded as follows: Commencing at the north-eastern corner of Section 452, Block XVI, Forest Hill Hundred; thence in an easterly direction along the southern boundary of Blocks LXII and LXIII, Hokonui Survey District, to the western boundary of Run 494, Block XVII, Forest Hill Hundred; thence southerly along the western boundaries of Run 494, aforesaid, and the Invercargill Water Supply Reserve, Blocks XVII and XI, Forest Hill Hundred, to the southern boundary of the said Block XI; thence easterly along the southern boundary of Block XI, aforesaid, to the north-western corner of Section 134, Block X, Forest Hill Hundred; thence southerly along the western boundary of Section 134, aforesaid, to the north-eastern boundary of Section 133, Block X, aforesaid; thence north-westerly and south-westerly along the north-eastern and north-western boundaries of the said section 133, to the easternmost corner of Section 221, Block IX, Forest Hill Hundred; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of Section 221, aforesaid, to the southern boundary of Section 169, Block XII, Forest Hill Hundred; thence easterly generally, north-westerly generally, easterly and south-westerly along the southern, eastern, northern, and north-western boundaries of the said Section 169, to the north-eastern boundary of Section 54, Block XII, aforesaid; thence north-westerly generally along the north-eastern boundaries of the said Section 54 and Section 325, Block XII, aforesaid, to Hay Road; thence northerly along Hay Road to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 364, Block XII, aforesaid; thence westerly along the northern boundaries of Sections 364 and 365, Block XII, aforesaid, to the westernmost corner of the said Section 365; thence north-westerly generally along the north-eastern boundaries of Section 166, Block XII, aforesaid, Sections 363, 360, 359, Block XVI, Forest Hill Hundred, and the northern side of a public road forming the north-eastern boundary of Lot 3 on the plan numbered 1780 and deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Invercargill, to Taylors Gorge Road; thence north-easterly along Taylors Gorge Road to the northern boundaries of Lot 1 on the plan numbered 3471 and deposited as aforesaid; thence south-easterly generally along the north-eastern boundaries of the said Lot 1, and the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of Lot 2 on the said plan 3471, to the easternmost corner thereof, thence easterly generally along the south-western and south-eastern boundaries of Section 357, Block XVI, Forest Hill Hundred, to and along Hay Road, to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 370, Block XVI, aforesaid; thence easterly and northerly to and along the southern and eastern boundaries of the said section 370, to and across Mandeville Road; thence westerly along Mandeville Road to the south-eastern corner of Section 452, Block XVI, aforesaid; thence northerly along the eastern boundary of the said Section 452, to the point of commencement.

Secondly, all that parcel of land containing by estimation 1,730 acres, more or less, and bounded as follows: Commencing at the north-west corner of Section 215, Block X, Forest Hill Hundred; thence towards the south generally along the western boundary of Block X, aforesaid, to the north-eastern corner of Section 340, Block IV, Forest Hill Hundred; thence westerly generally along the northern boundary of Block IV, aforesaid, to Menzies Road; thence northerly generally along the said Menzies Road to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 489, Block IX, Forest Hill Hundred; thence north-westerly generally to and along the northern boundary of Section 489, aforesaid, the north-eastern boundaries of Section 142, Block IX, aforesaid, to the northernmost corner of the said Section 142; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundaries of Section 53, Block IX, aforesaid, to the south-eastern corner of Section 450, Block IX, aforesaid; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundaries of the said Section 450 and Section 221, Block IX, aforesaid, to a public road; thence south-easterly generally along the south-western and southern boundaries of the said Section 221, across Menzies Road, again along the southern boundary of the said section 221 and along the south-western and southern boundaries of Section 133, Block X, Forest Hill Hundred, to the point of commencement.

Thirdly, all that area in the County of Southland, Southland Land District, inclusive of roads, railways, and streams, containing by estimation 1,550 acres, more or less, and bounded as follows: Commencing at the easternmost corner of Section 326, Block LXI, Hokonui Survey District; thence in a north-westerly direction along the north-eastern boundary of the said Section 326, to and across McRaes Road; thence north-easterly generally along the north-western side of McRaes Road, to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 915B, Block LXII, Hokonui Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction along the south-western boundary of Section 915B, aforesaid, to the southernmost corner thereof; thence in a north-easterly direction along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 915B, 914, 913A, and 913B, Block LXII, Hokonui Survey District, to the westernmost corner of Section 918, Block LXII, Hokonui Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction along the south-western boundary of Section 918, aforesaid, to and across the Lora Stream to the north-western side of a public road forming the south-eastern boundary of Section 918, aforesaid; thence in a north-easterly direction generally along the said road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 922, Block LXIII, Hokonui Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction along the south-western boundary of Section 922, aforesaid, to the northern boundary of Forest Hill Hundred; thence in a westerly direction along the northern boundary of the Forest Hill Hundred, aforesaid, to the point of commencement.


SECOND SCHEDULE

DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF THE HOKONUI RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the County of Southland, Southland Land District, containing by estimation 54,551 acres, more or less, and bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the right bank of the Makarewa River in line with the eastern boundary of Section 27, Block X, New River Hundred; thence in a northerly direction along the eastern boundary of Blocks X and VIII, New River Hundred, to the north-eastern corner of the said Block VIII; thence in a westerly direction along the northern boundary of the said Block VIII, to the south-eastern corner of Block II, Winton Hundred; thence in a northerly direction generally along the eastern boundary of Blocks II and III, Winton Hundred, to the Winton-Hedgehope railway-line; thence in an easterly direction along the said Winton-Hedgehope railway-line, to a point in line with the eastern-side of the Boggyburn-Browns Road; thence in a northerly direction generally along the eastern side of the said Boggyburn-Browns Road to the eastern boundary of Block IX, Winton Hundred; thence in a northerly direction along the eastern boundary of said Block IX, Winton Hundred, to and across the Otapiri Stream; thence in a northerly direction along the left bank of the Otapiri Stream, aforesaid, to the southern boundary of Block LXI, Hokonui Survey District; thence in an easterly direction along the southern boundary of Block LXI, Hokonui Survey District, to the easternmost corner of Section 326, Block LXI, Hokonui Survey District; thence in a north-westerly direction along the north-eastern boundary of the said Section 326, to and across McRaes Road; thence north-easterly generally along the north-western side of McRaes Road, to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 915B, Block LXII, Hokonui Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction along the south-western boundary of Section 915B, aforesaid, to the southernmost corner thereof; thence in a north-easterly direction along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 915B, 914, 913A, and 913B, Block LXII, Hokonui Survey District, to the westernmost corner of Section 918, Block LXII, Hokonui Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction along the south-western boundary of Section 918, aforesaid, to and across the Lora Stream to the north-western side of a public road forming the south-eastern boundary of Section 918, aforesaid; thence in a north-easterly direction generally along the said road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 922, Block LXIII, Hokonui Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction along the south-western boundary of Section 922, aforesaid, to the northern boundary of Forest Hill Hundred; thence in an easterly direction along the southern boundary of Block LXIII, Hokonui Survey District, to the western boundary of Run 494, Block XVII, Forest Hill Hundred; thence in a southerly direction along the western boundaries of the said Run 494, and the Invercargill Water Supply Reserve, Blocks XVII and XI, Forest Hill Hundred, to the southern boundary of the said Block XI; thence in an easterly direction along the southern boundary of the said Block XI to the western boundary of Section 134, Block X, Forest Hill Hundred; thence in a southerly direction along the western boundary of Section 134, aforesaid, to the northern boundary of Section 215, Block X, aforesaid; thence in a westerly direction along the northern boundary of the said Section 215 to the western boundary of the said Block X; thence in a southerly direction generally along the western boundary of the said Block X, to the north-eastern corner of Section 340, Block IV, Forest Hill Hundred; thence in a south-westerly direction along the north-western boundary of the said Section 340 and along the northern side of a public road forming the northern boundary of Section 440B and 440A, Block IV, aforesaid, and Section 439A, Block V, Forest Hill Hundred, to the southern end of the said public road; thence in a north-westerly direction generally along the northern boundaries of Section 439A, aforesaid, along the northern side of a public road forming part of the northern boundaries of Sections 439A, 439B, and 192, Block V, aforesaid; across another public road, and along the north-eastern boundary of Section 192, aforesaid, and that boundary produced to and across the Makarewa River to the right bank thereof; thence in a south-westerly direction generally along the right bank of the Makarewa River to the point of commencement.
