Appointment of Ranger of Beaches

IN pursuance of the provisions of the Harbours Act, 1923, I, William Stanley Goosman, Minister of Marine, do hereby appoint

George Berkley Hewson

of Riverside Road, Orewa, to be a Ranger of Beaches for the purposes of the Harbours Act, 1923, as from the 1st day of October, 1950.

As witness my hand this 2nd day of October, 1950.

Revocation of Appointment and Appointment of Transport Licensing Authority

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 87 of the Transport Act, 1949, the Minister of Transport doth hereby revoke, as from the 1st day of October, 1950, the appointment of Cecil Eustace Hayward Pledger as District Licensing Authority for the No. 5 Transport District, made by Warrant dated the 27th day of September, 1950,* and doth hereby appoint William Melville Will as District Licensing Authority for the No. 5 Transport District for a term commencing on the 3rd day of October, 1950, and expiring on the 30th day of September, 1953.

Appointment of Wharf at Wellington

Customs Department,
Wellington, 25th September, 1950.

I, DAVID GEORGE SAWERS, Comptroller of Customs, in exercise of the powers vested in the Minister of Customs for this purpose by section 19 of the Customs Act, 1913, and delegated to me by the Minister under section 11 of that Act, do by this Warrant appoint the jetty adjacent to the premises occupied by the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor Boat Club (Inc.) on reclaimed land at Evans Bay within the Port of Wellington, to be a wharf for the lading and unlading of goods.

Appointment of Customs Examining-place at Wellington

Customs Department,
Wellington, 25th September, 1950.

I, DAVID GEORGE SAWERS, Comptroller of Customs, in exercise of the powers vested in the Minister of Customs for this purpose by section 20 of the Customs Act, 1913, and delegated to me by the Minister under section 11 of that Act, do by this Warrant hereby appoint the undermentioned premises at the Port of Wellington to be a place for the examination by the Customs of goods subject to the control of the Customs:—

The wooden building known as the Tasman Empire Airways Temporary Operating Base, measuring 62 feet by 30 feet, erected on reclaimed land situated in Evans Bay, Wellington.

Appointment of Customs Aerodrome

I, CHARLES MOORE BOWDEN, Minister of Customs, in exercise of the powers vested in me for this purpose by regulation 5 of the Customs (Aircraft) Regulations 1939, do by this Warrant appoint as a Customs aerodrome that portion of the area of water known as Port Nicholson as is contained within the high spring tide line of Evans Bay and all that area enclosed by a right line commencing at the northern extreme of Point Jerningham at high spring tide; thence due north for a distance of one mile; thence due east for a distance of two miles; thence due south for a distance of half a mile; thence due west to a point immediately north of Point Halswell; thence due south to the northern extreme point of Point Halswell at high spring tide; and do likewise appoint the three aircraft mooring buoys situated off the western shore of Evans Bay and generally between the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor Boat Club building and the Patent Slip, and the two aircraft mooring buoys situated in the south-eastern portion of Evans Bay off shore from Aberdeen Quay and generally between the Miramar Wharf and the Power House, to be the Examination Stations at the said aerodrome.

With reference to Lord Addison's despatch of the 17th August, 1949, Circular C. No. 11, I have the honour to transmit the accompanying copies of a circular issued by the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Parliament regarding nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize for 1951.

It would be appreciated if the conditions of the prize could be made known to those bodies and persons who are qualified to nominate candidates.

NOBEL PEACE PRIZE

ALL proposals of candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize, which is to be distributed December 10th, 1951, must, in order to be taken into consideration, be laid before the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Parliament by a duly qualified person before the first of February of the same year.

Any one of the following persons is held to be duly qualified: (a) Members and late members of the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Parliament, as well as the advisers appointed at the Norwegian Nobel Institute; (b) Members of Parliament and Members of Government of the different States, as well as Members of the Interparliamentary Union; (c) Members of the International Arbitration Court at the Hague; (d) Members of the Council of the International Peace Bureau; (e) Members and Associates of the Institute of International Law; (f) University professors of Political Science and of Law, of History and of Philosophy; and (g) Persons who have received the Nobel Peace Prize.

The Nobel Peace Prize may also be accorded to institutions or associations.

According to the Code of Statutes, § 8, the grounds upon which any proposal is made must be stated and handed in along with such papers and other documents as may therein be referred to.

According to § 3, every written work, to qualify for a prize, must have appeared in print.

For particulars, qualified persons are requested to apply to the Office of the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Parliament, Drammensvei 19, Oslo.
