(b) Duration : 1000 hours to 1600 hours daily.
(c) Danger height : 32,000 ft.

Notice to Mariners No. 53 of 1950

Wellington, N.Z. 25th September, 1950.

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—PORT NICHOLSON

Aids to Air Navigation

(1) Position : Lat., 41° 19′ 20″ S.; long., 174° 49′ 20″ E.

Details : An airport beacon has been established on top of the water reservoir at Seatoun Heights Road in the above position. The light will have a character cycle of 16 alternate white and amber flashes per minute, and a beam elevation of 1·5 degrees, height 390 feet, and a clear weather visibility of 60 miles from an aircraft.

(2) Previous Notice to Mariners No. 36 of 1949, is hereby cancelled.

Position : Lat., 41° 19′ 20″ S.; long., 174° 48′ 10″ E.

Details : A red occulting light has been established in the above position to replace the small experimental unit at present in service. The light will have a character cycle of 40 one-second flashes per minute, and a clear weather visibility of 25 miles, height 120 feet.

(3) Two sets of fixed lights on each radio mast at Mt. Victoria, one on each truck and one midway down each mast, and with a visibility of at least 5 miles in clear weather.

The above lights in 1, 2, and 3, will be visible seaward from certain parts of Cook Strait and Port Nicholson, and all lights are for the use of aircraft only, and will be exhibited at various times as required.

(4) A fixed red light on each of three buoys in Evans Bay has been established, one near Miramar Wharf, and two near Patent Slip (warping buoys), visibility about two miles.
