The Standards Act, 1941.—Notice of New Appointments to the Standards Council
NOTICE is hereby given that pursuant to section 3 of the Standards Act, 1941, the persons named in the first column hereunder have been appointed by the Minister of Industries and Commerce as members of the Standards Council to hold office until 31st January, 1951, in lieu of the persons named in the second column hereunder, who have resigned their offices.

Pharmacy Industry
H. R. Thomson, 30 St. James Avenue, Papanui, Christchurch, has applied for a licence to operate a new pharmacy at the corner of Marshlands and New Brighton Roads, Christchurch.
Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit
Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., Jellicoe Street, Te Puke, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on premises at Jellicoe Street, Te Puke.
D. R. Lummis, Tudor Street, Motueka, has applied for permission to take over from H. Whitwell, motor-spirits retail licence in respect of one pump and to change the retail selling-point from the present location in High Street to a new site on proposed service-station premises at Tudor Street, Motueka.
W. E. and J. R. Williams, Matakawau (20 miles from Waiuku), have applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on garage premises at Matakawau.
R. H. Thompson, Paroa, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on store premises at Paroa.
F. J. Mills, Torbay Hardware, Torbay, Auckland, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on premises at 966 Beach Road, Torbay.
Agnes G. J. Cahill, Coal Creek, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on shop premises at Coal Creek.
Kaitaia Service Station, Ltd., Kaitaia, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from five pumps to be installed on service-station premises at Commerce Street, Kaitaia.
L. E. Pearse and Co., Ltd., Taniwha Street, Taupo, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on proposed motel premises, approximately 4 mile from Taupo Township.
Tipping Bros., Te Pahu, have applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on garage premises at Te Pahu, and otherwise than through pumps from the same premises, or from an Oil Company Depot at Frankton.
G. H. Stephenson, Ordsall Street, Gore, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on garage premises at Ordsall Street, Gore.
Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than 24th August, 1950, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender. Goat Island
Plant is being assembled at Goat Island preparatory to rock drilling and blasting to widen the channel at this point. The work will take approximately three years. Floating plant is moored at the Island and Masters of all vessels are warned to reduce speed when passing the vicinity, otherwise serious damage may be caused.
