Declaring Parts of a Tribal District to be Tribal Committee Areas
Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945, I, Ernest Bowyer Corbett, Minister of Maori Affairs, do hereby declare the parts of the tribal district described in the Schedule hereto to be tribal committee areas for the purposes of the said Act, and do hereby assign to each of the several areas the name appearing at the head of the description of each such area.

SCHEDULE
TUHOE-MANAWARU TRIBAL DISTRICT
Manawaru Tribal Committee Area
ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at the south-eastern corner of Block VIII, Galatea Survey District, and proceeding easterly along the southern boundaries of Blocks V, VI, and VII, Urewera Survey District, to the watershed between the Whakatane and Tauranga-Waimana Rivers; thence southerly along that watershed to Pawairoto Trig. Station in Block III, Ruatahuna Survey District; thence along a right line to Te Ranga-a-Taneiti Trig. Station in Block VI, Ruatahuna Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to the source of the Mangaorongo Stream, a tributary of the Whakatane River; thence north-westerly down that stream to its confluence with the Whakatane River; thence along a right line passing through Trig. Station 2125 (Whakaipu) in Block VII, Ahikereru Survey District, to the south-eastern boundary of the Ngati Whare Tribal Committee Area; thence north-easterly along that boundary to the south-eastern corner of Block VIII, Galatea Survey District, the point of commencement.
Ruatahuna Tribal Committee Area
All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station Te Taumutu in Block XVI, Heruiwi Survey District, being a point on the boundary of the Ngati Whare Tribal Committee Area; thence north-easterly along that boundary to its intersection with the production of a right line between the confluence of Mangaorongo Stream and Whakatane River and Trig. Station 2125 (Whakaipu); thence south-easterly along the said right line to the confluence of Mangaorongo Stream and Whakatane River, up the Mangaorongo Stream to its source and along a right line passing through Trig. Station Whakatakaa in Block II, Waikaremoana West Survey District, to its intersection with a right line between the northernmost point of Lake Waikaremoana and Trig. Station Te Taumutu aforesaid; thence south-westerly along the said right line to Te Taumutu Trig. Station, the point of commencement.
Te Waiti - Huiarau Tribal Committee Area
All that area bounded by a line commencing at Pawairoto Trig. Station in Block III, Ruatahuna Survey District, and proceeding northerly along the watershed between the Whakatane and Tauranga-Waimana Rivers to the southern boundary of Urewera Survey District; thence easterly along that boundary and the southern boundary of Waioeka South Survey District to the western boundary of Tahora Block; thence southerly along that boundary to its intersection with a right line between Mangatapere and Maunga-pohatu Trig. Stations; thence westerly along that line to Maunga-pohatu Trig. Station; thence south-easterly along a right line in the direction of Puketapu Trig. Station to its intersection with the north-western boundary of Waipaoa Block; thence south-westerly along that north-western boundary, passing through Trig. Stations Koranga West and Pukepuke, to its intersection with a right line between Puketapu Trig. Station and the northernmost point of Lake Waikaremoana; thence westerly along that right line to Lake Waikaremoana; thence south-westerly along a right line in the direction of Te Taumutu Trig. Station in Block XVI, Heruiwi Survey District, to its intersection with the production of a right line between the source of Mangaorongo Stream and Trig. Station Whakatakaa in Block II, Waikaremoana West Survey District; thence north-westerly along the last-mentioned right line to the source of Mangaorongo Stream; thence north-easterly along a right line to Trig. Station Te Ranga-a-Taneiti in Block VI, Ruatahuna Survey District, and a right line to Trig. Station Pawairoto, the point of commencement.

Varying a Notice Declaring Parts of Tribal Districts to be Tribal Committee Areas Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945.

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945, I, Ernest Bowyer Corbett, Minister of Maori Affairs, do hereby vary the notice dated the 16th day of December, 1947, and published in the Gazette on the 8th day of January, 1948, at page 11, declaring parts of tribal districts to be tribal committee areas for the purposes of the said Act, by excluding therefrom the descriptions of the tribal committee areas of the Southern Tuhoe Tribal District and substituting therefor the descriptions appearing in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE
SOUTHERN TUHOE TRIBAL DISTRICT
Patuheuheu Tribal Committee Area
ALL that area bounded by a line commencing at Mount Edgecumbe Trig. Station, in Block XIII, Rangitaiki Upper Survey District, and proceeding easterly along right lines to the north-eastern corner of Allotment 60H, Rangitaiki Parish in Block XV, Rangitaiki Upper Survey District, and to the north-eastern corner of Allotment 60D, Rangitaiki Parish; thence southerly along the eastern boundaries of Allotments 60D and 60C, Rangitaiki Parish, to the south-eastern corner of the said Allotment 60C; thence westerly along the southern boundary of that allotment to Tapapakiakia Trig. Station; thence south-westerly and south-easterly along right lines to Te Hiwera and Taumtamiri Trig. Stations in Block IV, Rangitaiki Lower Survey District; thence south-easterly along a right line in the direction of Kaipurapuna Trig. Station to its intersection with the eastern boundary of Block VIII, Rangitaiki Lower Survey District; thence southerly along the eastern boundaries of Blocks VIII, XII, and XVI, Rangitaiki Lower Survey District, and of Blocks IV and VIII, Galatea Survey District, to the south-eastern corner of the said Block VIII; thence south-westerly along a right line to Tawhiuau Trig. Station in Block XIV, Galatea Survey District; thence north-westerly along a right line to Trig. Station H, in Block V, Galatea Survey District; thence northerly along a right line to Mount Edgecumbe Trig. Station, the point of commencement.
Ngati Manawa Tribal Committee Area
All that area bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station H in Block V, Galatea Survey District, and proceeding south-easterly along a right line to Tawhiuau Trig. Station in Block XIV, Galatea Survey District; thence south-westerly along right lines to Ponaua and Ngapuketura Trig. Stations in Blocks V, Ahikereru, and VI, Heruiwi Survey Districts, respectively; thence northerly along a right line to Wairapukao Trig. Station in Block VI, Wheao Survey District; thence westerly along the southern boundaries of Kaingaroa 1A South and 1A North Blocks to the south-western corner of the last-mentioned block; thence northerly along the western boundary of the said 1A North Block to its northernmost corner; thence along a right line to Trig. Station 38A in Block IX, Kaingaroa Survey District; thence easterly along a right line to Trig. Station H in Block V, Galatea Survey District, the point of commencement.
Ngati Whare Tribal Committee Area
All that area bounded by a line commencing at Tawhiuau Trig. Station in Block XIV, Galatea Survey District, and proceeding north-easterly along a right line to the south-eastern corner of Block VIII, Galatea Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to the north-eastern corner of Waireporepo Block in Block XI, Ahikereru Survey District; thence along the south-eastern boundary of that block to its southernmost corner; thence along a right line to Te Taumutu Trig. Station in Block XVI, Heruiwi Survey District; thence westerly along a right line to Pukeroa Trig. Station; thence northerly along a right line in the direction of Tiritiri Trig. Station to the intersection with the production of a right line between Trig. Station 4 in Block VII, Heruiwi Survey District, and the southernmost point of Lot 9 on the plan numbered 21389, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Auckland; thence westerly to and along that right line to the southernmost point of Lot 9 aforesaid; thence northerly along the western boundary of that lot to Ngapuketura Trig. Station in Block VI, Heruiwi Survey District; thence north-easterly along right lines to Ponaua Trig. Station in Block V, Ahikereru Survey District, and to Tawhiuau Trig. Station, the point of commencement.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following Amendment to New Zealand Gazette Notice No. 55, dated 21st October, 1948:—
REORGANIZATION OF THE TERRITORIAL FORCE
WHEREAS by New Zealand Gazette Notice No. 55 appearing at pages 1298 and 1299 of the New Zealand Gazette dated 21st October, 1948, His Excellency the Governor-General was pleased to approve, under section 6 (a), Defence Act, 1909, of the reorganization of the Territorial Force, and whereas it has been deemed necessary that The Waikato Regiment should be amalgamated with the 3rd, 11th, and 4th Light Armoured Fighting Vehicle Regiments to form 1st Armoured Regiment (Waikato), R.N.Z.A.C.: Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve that the said New Zealand Gazette Notice of 21st October, 1948, be amended as follows:—
UNITS AMALGAMATED AND REDESIGNATED
By adding “The Waikato Regiment” to those units amalgamated to form 1st Armoured Regiment (Waikato), R.N.Z.A.C., immediately after “The 4th Light Armoured Fighting Vehicle Regiment (Waikato Mounted Rifles)” in the first column.
