Lands Reserved in the South Auckland, Taranaki, Nelson, Canterbury,
and Otago Land Districts

WHEREAS by section 167 of the Land Act, 1948, it is enacted
that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart
as a reserve, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under
pastoral lease or pastoral occupation licence, any Crown land for
any purpose, which, in his opinion is desirable in the public interest,
and notice thereof shall be published in the Gazette :

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril
Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred
upon me by the said Act, do hereby reserve the lands in the South
Auckland, Taranaki, Nelson, Canterbury, and Otago Land Districts,
described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes
specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so
intended to be reserved.

SCHEDULE

SOUTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT

SECTION 15s, Tairua Village, situated in Block X, Whitianga
Survey District: Area, 1 acre 1 rood 10 perches, more or less.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Pelorus Scenic Board

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred
upon him by section 13 of the Scenery Preservation Act,
1908, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of
New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the reserve described
in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act),
in trust for the purposes of scenery preservation, as from the date
of this notice until the 20th day of September, 1953, (unless pre-
viously altered or revoked under the said Act) in the Pelorus Scenic
Board, as constituted by notification dated the 21st day of September,
1948, and published in Gazette of the 30th day of that month.

MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT

SECTION 2, Block VIII, Heringa Survey District: Area, 727 acres,
more or less. (S.O. 600.)

Reappointment of Member of Opticians Board Under Section 42 of
the Statutes Amendment Act, 1938

upon me by section 42 of the Statutes Amendment Act, 1938,
I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby reappoint

Edward Raymond Boyd, S.D.O., N.Z.,

to be a member of the Opticians Board under the aforesaid Act.

The Reverend Walter Herbert Beech, Chaplain, resignation
accepted and Short Service Commission terminated, to date, 2nd
June, 1950.

The Reverend Michael Kenefick, Honorary Chaplain,
R.N.Z.N.V.R., entered the Royal New Zealand Navy in the
rank of Honorary Chaplain (R.C.), with seniority of 14th June,
1943, to date 5th May, 1950.

Mr. Albert Ewart John Hodge, Commissioned Engineer, R.N.,
lent Royal New Zealand Navy and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. “Maori,”
additional, to date 15th May, 1950, and H.M.N.Z.S. “Philomel,”
additional, for passage, to date 19th May, 1950.

Temporary Sub-Lieutenant Raymond Frederick Sanderson
(discharged), entered in the Wellington Division in the Rank of
Sub-Lieutenant, with seniority of 30th May, 1948, to date 15th
May, 1950.

Temporary Sub-Lieutenant John Dawbin Carlson (discharged),
entered in the Wellington Division in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant,
with seniority of 21st September, 1948, to date 15th May, 1950.

Temporary Sub-Lieutenant James Alistair Grace (discharged),
entered in the Wellington Division in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant,

Ordinary Seaman William Victor Osten, Bachelor of Science,

Lieutenant G. J. Austin, 1st Locating Battery, R.N.Z.A., to
be Captain. Dated 1st December, 1949.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand
Gazette No. 72, dated 1st December, 1949, relative to temp. Captain
C. G. W. Quilter, for “ Dated 1st December, 1949 ” substitute “ Dated
1st December, 1948 ”.

Temp Captain G. J. Ruston, 1st Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A., is
transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal
N.Z. Artillery, with the rank of Captain, with seniority from 24th
November, 1942. Dated 1st June, 1950.

Temp. Captain P. S. Thomson, 1st Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A.,
is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 1st Field

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS

Regular Force—

Lieutenant G. C. Laidlaw to be Captain. Dated 29th June,
1950.

Frederick Stephen Lionel Barrie Philpot to be temp. Lieutenant
(on prob.) and is posted for duty to Armoured Training Wing,
Burnham Camp. Dated 15th June, 1950.

Territorial Force—

Major S. W. Askew, from the Reserve of Officers, Regimental
List, 2nd Armoured Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C., to be Major, with
seniority from 8th December, 1946, and is posted to the 2nd Armoured
