to be Registrar of Electors and Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Gisborne for the purposes of the Electoral Act, 1927, and its amendments, and Returning Officer for the Gisborne Licensing District for the purposes of the Licensing Act, 1908, and its amendments, on and from the 22nd day of May, 1950.

Retention of Title of “Honourable”

IT is hereby notified that His Majesty the King has been pleased to approve of the use and recognition throughout His Majesty's Dominions of the title of “Honourable”, for life, by the Honourable Henry Havelock Cornish, lately a Judge of the Supreme Court of New Zealand.

Notice of Intention to Take Land in Block VIII, Tairua Survey District, for a Maori School

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a Maori School—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto held by Tainakore Wharepapa, Kerei Wharepapa, and Raimona Wharepapa under and by virtue of deferred payment licence No. 984, Volume 647, folio 211 (Auckland Land Registry), is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Opoutere and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.


SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 4 acres. Being part Section 27.

Situated in Block VIII, Tairua Survey District. (Auckland R.D.). (S.O. 34104.)

In the South Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 130718, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured yellow.

Notice of Intention to Take Land in Block XI, Karioi Survey District, for a Quarry

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for a quarry: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Ohakune and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.


SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 14 acres 3 roods 30 perches. Being part Murimotu 5b No. 3.

Situated in Block XI, Karioi Survey District (S.O. 21920.)

In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 131609, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured orange, edged orange.

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of Section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949

IN terms of section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949, the Minister of Transport doth hereby declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be within a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.


SCHEDULE

SITUATED in Manawatu County—

  • All that area at Himatangi Beach Township, consisting of that portion of Koputara Road commencing at the Himatangi Beach Post-office and terminating at a point 60 chains measured along the said road in an easterly direction from the said post-office.

Dated at Wellington, this 9th day of June, 1950.
