Notice Under the National Savings Act, 1940, Section 4
Wellington, 2nd May, 1950.
IN terms of section 4 of the National Savings Act, 1940, I, Sidney George Holland, Minister of Finance, hereby prescribe that the eleventh investment period shall run from the 30th June, 1950, to the 30th June, 1951.
The rate of interest to be paid on investments made during such investment period shall be 3 per cent.
Moneys invested during such investment period by deposit in an investment account shall be repayable on the 30th day of June, 1953.
Provided that where interest is not withdrawn in terms of section 8 (2) of the said Act, and is added to the principal moneys of the investor, such amount of interest together with interest thereon shall be repayable on the 30th day of June, 1951.
National Savings Bond issued during such investment period shall be repayable five years after the date of issue thereof.

IN terms of section 5 of the National Savings Act, 1940, I, Sydney George Holland, Minister of Finance, hereby authorize the trustees of the undermentioned savings banks (being savings banks constituted under the Trustee Savings Banks Act, 1948) to receive investments by way of deposits in investment accounts under the National Savings Act, 1940, during the investment period expiring on the 30th June, 1951 :—
Auckland Savings Bank,
New Plymouth Savings Bank,
Dunedin Savings Bank, and
Invercargill Savings Bank.

Date of Election by Fire-insurance Companies to Fill Extraordinary Vacancies on the Lower Hutt and Petone Fire Boards

PURSUANT to the Fire Services Act, 1949, and the rules thereunder, the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act, doth appoint Monday, the 19th June, 1950, to be the date for holding the election of one member of each of the Lower Hutt and Petone Fire Boards by the insurance companies concerned, such election being held to fill the extraordinary vacancies caused by the resignation of Mr. A. L. Garbett.

The Rabbit-skins Levy Fixation Order 1950.—(Notice No. Ag. 4865)
PURSUANT to section 13 of the Rabbit Nuisance Amendment Act, 1947, and having regard to the recommendations of the Rabbit Destruction Council, the Minister of Agriculture doth hereby make the following Order.
ORDER

THIS Order may be cited as the Rabbit-skins Levy Fixation Order 1950.

For the purposes of this Order “the said regulations” means the Rabbit-skins Levy Regulations 1948.*

The rate of the levy to be charged for the purposes of the Rabbit Nuisance Amendment Act, 1947, in accordance with that Act and the said regulations, on rabbit-skins of whatever class produced and sold in New Zealand shall be 25 per centum of the price paid or payable by the purchaser of the skins in respect of every sale made or effected during the period commencing on the 1st day of June, 1950, and ending on the 31st day of May, 1951, both days inclusive, by a broker by auction or by a rural vendor directly to a wholesale trader as respectively defined in the said regulations.

N.B.—The rate of the levy fixed by the above Order is the equivalent of a rate of 20 per centum on the full market value.
Fees Payable for Certificates of Health or Freedom from Disease in Respect of the Export of Stock, Poultry, Hides, Skins, &c.—(Notice No. Ag. 4864)

IT is hereby notified for public information that on and after the 1st day of July, 1950, there shall be payable on the issue of certificates of health or freedom from disease in respect of the export of the several classes of stock, poultry, hides, skins, &c., mentioned in the Schedule hereto the respective fees set opposite each such class of stock or other goods in the said Schedule.
SCHEDULE
Class of Stock or Other Goods. Fee for Export Certificate.
Horses . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . For one animal, 16s. ; for each animal after the first where not more than four additional animals are examined at the same time and place and on behalf of the same person, whether the owner or not, 8s. ; for each animal after the fifth examined at the same time and place and on behalf of the same person, whether the owner or not, 4s., with a maximum fee for any one certificate of £3 16s.
Cattle for breeding purposes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . For one animal, 16s. ; for each animal after the first where not more than nineteen additional animals are examined at the same time and place and on behalf of the same person, whether the owner or not, 8s. ; for each additional animal after the twentieth examined at the same time and place and on behalf of the same person, whether the owner or not, 1s. 6d.
Cattle for slaughter for food purposes . . . . . . . . . . . . For each animal not exceeding ten examined at the same time and place and on behalf of the same person, whether the owner or not 3s., with a maximum fee of 16s. ; for each animal after the tenth examined at the same time and place and on behalf of the same person, whether the owner or not, 1s. 6d., with a maximum fee for any one certificate of £1 10s.
Swine for breeding purposes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . For one animal, 7s. 6d. ; for each animal after the first examined at the same time and place and on behalf of the same person, whether the owner or not, 1s. 6d.
Swine for slaughter for food purposes . . . . . . . . . . . . For each animal not exceeding ten examined at the same time and place and on behalf of the same person, whether the owner or not, 9d., with a maximum fee of 4s. 6d. ; for each animal after the tenth examined at the same time and place and on behalf of the same person, whether the owner or not, 6d., with a maximum fee for any one certificate of 15s.
Sheep and goats for breeding purposes . . . . . . . . . . . . For one animal, 7s. 6d. ; for each animal after the first where not more than four additional animals are examined at the same time and place and on behalf of the same person, whether the owner or not, 1s. 6d. ; for each additional animal after the fifth examined at the same time and place and on behalf of the same person, whether the owner or not, 9d., with a maximum fee for any one certificate of £3 15s.
Sheep and goats for slaughter for food purposes . . . . . . For each animal not exceeding ten examined at the same time and place and on behalf of the same person, whether the owner or not, 9d., with a maximum fee of 4s. 6d. ; for each additional animal after the tenth examined at the same time and place and on behalf of the same person, whether the owner or not, 6d., with a maximum fee for any one certificate of 15s.
Dogs, cats, rabbits, poultry and other birds. . . . . . . . . . For each original certificate, 4s.
Hides, skins, tallow, wool, casings, &c. . . . . . . . . . . . (a) For each original certificate covering whole consignment, 1s. 6d. ; (b) when separate certificates are required for each package, cask, or parcel included in any one consignment a fee of 1s. 6d. shall be payable for each ten or portion of ten such certificates.
Circus and other groups of performing animals . . . . . . . For a certificate embracing the whole group, £1 11s. 6d.
