Notice of Intention to Take Land in the Borough of Kaiapoi for Housing Purposes

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for housing purposes and notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Kaiapoi and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 2 acres 1 perch.

Being part Rural Section 320, Borough of Kaiapoi, and being the whole of the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Volume 246, folio 182 (Canterbury Land Registry).

In the Canterbury Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 131370, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

As witness my hand at Wellington, this 16th day of May, 1950.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the additional land described in the Schedule hereto for a main highway depot: And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the land required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Kawakawa and is there open for inspection: and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

Declaring Land to be Subject to Part I of the Maori Land Amendment Act, 1936

PURSUANT to section 4 of the Maori Land Amendment Act, 1936, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares the land described in the Schedule hereto to be subject to Part I of the said Act and to be included in the Ngatiawa Development Scheme.

SCHEDULE

ALL that area of land in the Waiairiki Maori Land Court District containing 596 acres 1 rood 15 perches, more or less, called or known as Lots 2 and 3 (D.P. 23762), being Part Allotment 246A No. 2, Waimana Parish, and situate in Blocks II and III, Whakatane Survey District (C.T. 631/58), (Auckland Registry).

The Standards Act, 1941.—Draft New Zealand Standard Specification :—D. 3005. Immersion Heaters for Thermal Storage Electric Water-heaters

NOTICE is hereby given that the above draft New Zealand Standard Specification is now being circulated to affected interests for consideration and comment. The closing date fixed for such comment is the 28th July, 1950.

All persons who may be affected by this specification once it has been declared a Standard Specification by the Minister of Industries and Commerce may, at any time before the closing-date for comments, obtain, on application, free copies from the New Zealand Standards Institute, Hamilton Chambers, 201 Lambton Quay, Wellington, so as to have an opportunity to consider the draft and to comment thereon to the Standards Council or to an appropriate committee of the Council in accordance with subsection (3) of section 8 of the Standards Act, 1941.

Notice to Persons Affected by Applications for Licences Under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936

Flax-milling Industry

A. J. Watson, Karamea, has applied for a licence to operate a flax mill at Runanga.

Pharmacy Industry

John Spence Hopper, 59 Cambridge Terrace, Wellington, has applied for a licence to operate a new pharmacy in the "Mayfair" Theatre Building, Main Street, Upper Hutt.

Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit

Frederick E. W. Maber, Whangaparaoa Road, Whangaparaoa, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirits from one pump to be installed on proposed service-station and garage premises at the above address.

Sam. G. Peck, Corner Thomas and Massey Roads, Mangere, has applied for permission to take over Motor-spirits Retail Licence No. 7524 in respect of one petrol pump previously operated by William G. Pickering at the above address.

L. Brenssell, Outram, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirits in drum lots from the depot of an oil company.

Henry G. Walles, Centennial Avenue, Alexandra, has applied for permission to move one petrol pump from inside his garage premises at the above address to a kerbside position.

Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than June 1st, 1950, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender. NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—COOK STRAIT

Rocks Reported

Details : Rocks have been discovered in the following positions:

(a) 1·3 miles 146°.5 from Baring Head Light, least water 5 ft. (b) 1.2 miles 228° from Cape Palliser Light, least water 6 ft. (c) 1·65 miles 205° from Cape Palliser Light, least water 8 fms. (d) 1.1 miles 160° from Karori Rock Light, least water 4 fms.

Note.—Obstruction reported 1931 by s.s. "Hobart" and charted 151° 2.8 miles from Baring Head Light was not found on examination but area must be swept when ship fitted next spring before declaring non-existence.
