Appointment of Day For Nomination of Members of Court of Arbitration

Department of Labour and Employment,
Wellington, 10th May, 1950.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint the 8th day of June, 1950, as the day for the nomination of the following officers in accordance with section 65 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925, namely:—

A nominated member of the Court of Arbitration to be appointed on the recommendation of industrial unions of employers;
An acting nominated member of the Court of Arbitration to be appointed on the like recommendation;
A nominated member of the Court of Arbitration to be appointed on the recommendation of industrial unions of workers;
An acting nominated member of the Court of Arbitration to be appointed on the like recommendation.

The Master and Apprentice Act, 1908, and its Amendments.—Notice Declaring the Department of Maori Affairs to be a Department in Which Apprentices May be Taken

NOTICE is hereby given that, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Master and Apprentice Act, 1908, and its amendments, the Minister of Labour doth hereby declare that the arts and trades used and exercised in the Department mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be deemed to be arts and trades within the meaning of Part II of the Master and Apprentice Act, 1908, and that the officer named in the said Schedule shall be deemed to be the master for the purposes of the said Part II of the said Act.

Department of Maori Affairs.

Name of officer to whom persons shall be apprenticed—
The District Building Supervisor for the district in which the apprentice is to be apprenticed.

Redefining Boundaries of the City of Palmerston North, the County of Kairanga, and the Taonui Riding of the County of Kairanga

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the City of Palmerston North are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said City having been altered by Order in Council made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, dated the 6th day of December, 1949, and published in Gazette No. 74 of the 8th day of December, 1949.

And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the County of Kairanga affected by the said Order in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto.

And, in further pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the Taonui Riding of the County of Kairanga affected by the said Order in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Third Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF PALMERSTON NORTH

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, situated in Blocks VII, X, XI, Kairanga Survey District, bounded by a line commencing at a point being the intersection of the middle lines of Richardson’s Line and Setter’s Line, and proceeding in a south-easterly direction along the middle of Setter’s Line to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 4 on D.P. 7111, being part Suburban Section 1535, Township of Palmerston North; thence north-easterly to and along the north-western boundary of Lot 4 on D.P. 7111, and easterly along the southern boundary of the Wellington—New Plymouth Railway (Palmerston North Deviation) to the south-western side of the North Island Main Trunk Railway; thence south-easterly along the south-western side of that railway and its production to the middle of Boundary Road; thence north-easterly along the middle of Boundary Road to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1 on D.P. 693, being part of Rural Section 419, Township of Palmerston North; thence in a south-easterly direction to and along the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1 aforesaid, and the north-eastern boundaries of Lots 2 and 4 on D.P. 693 aforesaid, to and across the Wellington—Napier Railway and along the north-eastern boundary of part Rural Section 419, Township of Palmerston North, to the north-western side of the Palmerston North—Napier State Highway; thence south-westerly along the north-western side of that highway to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 1 on D.P. 10732, being part Rural Section 390, Township of Palmerston North; thence south-easterly to and along the south-western boundary of Lot 1 and along the south-western boundary of Lot 2 on D.P. 10732 and its production to the right bank of the Manawatu River; thence in a south-westerly direction generally along the right bank of the Manawatu River to the south-eastern corner of Lot 4 on D.P. 2826, being part of Rural Section 374, Township of Palmerston North; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of Lot 4 and north-eastern boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 2826, being part Rural Section 373, Township of Palmerston North, and the north-eastern boundaries of Lots 11, 1A, and 1, on D.P. 533, being parts Rural Section 372, Township of Palmerston North, and north-eastern boundary of Lot 2 on D.P. 531, being part Rural Section 371, Township of Palmerston North, to and across College Street and along the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1 on D.P. 531, being part Rural Section 371, Township of Palmerston North; thence south-westerly along the north-western boundary of Lot 1 on D.P. 531 aforesaid, to the south-eastern corner of Rural Section 370, Township of Palmerston North; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of the aforesaid section to the south-eastern side of the Palmerston North—Himitangi Main Highway; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern side of that highway to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Rural Section 350, Township of Palmerston North; thence north-westerly to and along the last-mentioned boundary to the south-eastern side of Boundary Road; thence north-easterly along that side of Boundary Road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 11 on D.P. 7073, being part Rural Section 1564, Township of Palmerston North; thence in a north-westerly direction to and along the south-western boundary of Lot 11 aforesaid and its production to the north-western side of the Wellington—New Plymouth Railway (Palmerston North Deviation); thence north-easterly along the north-western side of that railway and its production to the middle of Gillespie’s Line; thence north-westerly along the middle of Gillespie’s Line to its intersection with the middle of Richardson’s Line; thence north-easterly along the middle of Richardson’s Line to its intersection with the middle of Rangitikei Line; thence south-easterly along the middle of Rangitikei Line to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 1 on D.P. 10583, being part Rural Section 554, Township of Palmerston North; thence north-easterly to and along the north-western boundary of Lot 1 aforesaid and along the north-western boundary of Rural Section 555, Township of Palmerston North, and its production to the middle of Milson’s Line; thence north-westerly along the middle of Milson’s Line to its intersection with the middle of Richardson’s Line; and thence north-easterly along the middle of Richardson’s Line to its intersection with the middle of Setter’s Line, the point of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF KAIRANGA

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, bounded towards the north-east generally by the Wellington—New Plymouth Railway-line from the middle of the Oroua River to the Bunnythorpe—Stoney Creek Road; thence by that road to the road forming the north-western boundaries of Sections 41 and 30, Block VIII, Kairanga Survey District; thence by the last-mentioned road to the road forming the north-eastern boundary of the latter section; thence by the road forming the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, and 20, Block VIII aforesaid, to the road forming the south-eastern boundary of the last-mentioned section; thence to and along the north-eastern boundary of Section 411 to Te Wi Native Reserve; thence along the western and northern boundaries of that reserve to the Manawatu River; thence by a right line across that river to the middle of the road forming the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 254 and 253, Block XII, Kairanga Survey District, and by a line along the middle of that road to the southernmost corner of Subdivision 34, Manchester Block; thence by the south-eastern boundaries of Subdivisions 34, 33, 32, 30, 28, 26, 24, 20, 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, and 2, Ferry Reserve, and Subdivisions 50 and 49, to the Manawatu River; thence by a line along the middle of the Manawatu River to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 1, Block I, Mangahao Survey District; thence to and along the western boundary of Section 1 aforesaid and its production to the eastern side of Range Road North; thence in a general south-westerly direction along the eastern side of Range Road North to its intersection with the south-western boundary of part Subdivision 3 of Section 26, Block II, Mangahao Survey District; thence along the south-western boundary of Subdivision 3 of Section 26 to the northernmost corner of Section 2, Block II, Mangahao Survey District; thence along the eastern side of the road forming the north-western boundaries of Sections 2 and 10, Block II, Mangahao Survey District, to and along Range Road North, across the Palmerston North—Pahiatua Road, and along the eastern side of Range Road South to the south-western corner of Section 13, Block XIX, Mangahao Survey District; thence along the south-western boundary of Section 13 aforesaid, the north-western boundaries of Sections 1, 2, 3, Block VI, and Section 4, Block V, Mangahao Survey District, and the abutment of Marima Ridge Road to the north-western corner of Section 9, Block IX, Mangahao Survey District; thence along a right line to Marima Trig.
