HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased, in pursuance of section 49 of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, to make the following appointments:—

to be a member of the Kowai Pass Domain Board in place of John Alexander Milliken, deceased.
James Hall
to be a member of the Fairlie Domain Board in place of Arthur John Hawkins, resigned.

The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice Declaring Land Taken for the Settlement of a Discharged Serviceman
WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Valuation Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies;
And whereas the Land Valuation Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land suitable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman:
And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land did on the 17th day of March, 1950, make an order determining the basic value of the land and no appeal from the said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed by the Court:
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty's Forces or in any British ship:
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged serviceman, and hereby specifies the 31st day of May, 1950, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.
SCHEDULE
NELSON LAND DISTRICT
ALL that area containing by admeasurement one hundred and forty (140) acres and fourteen (14) perches, more or less, situated in Block VI, Waimea Survey District, and being Lot 2, Deposited Plan No. 3918, part Section 92, Square 1, and part Sections 174 and 176, District of Waimea East, and being all the land contained in certificate of title, Volume 104, folio 106 (Nelson Land Registry).
As witness my hand, this 24th day of April, 1950.

Approval of Testing Officers Under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940
IN terms of Regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby approve of the persons named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being a Testing Officer under the said regulations for the authority specified in Column 1 of the said Schedule.

Revoking a Warrant Excluding Portions of Road From Limitations as to Speed and Excluding Portions of a Road From the Speed Limitation Imposed by the Transport Act, 1949, Section 36
IN terms of section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, the Minister of Transport doth hereby revoke that portion of the Warrant dated the 20th day of December, 1937*, which applies to the road described in the First Schedule hereto, and doth hereby exclude the road described in the Second Schedule hereto from the limitation as to speed imposed by the said section.
FIRST SCHEDULE
SITUATED within Warkworth Town District—
Auckland–Maungaturoto Main Highway No. 1: All that portion from the northern boundary of Warkworth Town District, as now constituted, to a point 35 chains, measured, along the road in a south-easterly direction from the said boundary, also all that portion from the south-western boundary of Warkworth Town District, as now constituted, to the junction of the said main highway and Mill Lane, a distance of approximately 1 mile.
SECOND SCHEDULE
Situated within Warkworth Town District:—
The Birkenhead–Maungaturoto State Highway No. 5: All that portion from the northern boundary of Warkworth Town District, as now constituted, to a point 19 chains, measured, along the said State highway in a south-easterly direction from the said boundary; also all that portion from the south-western boundary of the said town district, as now constituted, to a point 61 chains, measured, in a northerly direction along the said State highway from the south-western boundary.
