$\begin{aligned}& \text { NOTES.-(a) "Not elsewhere included" appears as n.e.i.; "other kinds" as o.k.; "articles and materials suited for, and to be used solely in, the fabrication } \& \text { or repair of goods within New Zealand" as a. and m.s. (b) Articles marked thus f are revised decision. (c) The rates of duty payable on goods set out hereunder } \& \text { have not been shown except in the case of goods classed under Tariff items 416, 448, and 449, and of goods admitted (under the provisions of section 11 of } \& \text { the Customs Amendment Act, 1927) at a rate of duty lower than that provided for in the First Schedule to the Customs Acts Amendment Act, 1934. Where goods } \& \text { are admitted under the provisions of section 11 aforesaid, the reduced rate is marked with an asterisk. (d) Steam-engines, gas-engines, oil-engines, and electric } \& \text { or other motors are not, unless otherwise indicated, to be regarded as parts of the machines with which they are imported. (e) Surtax as provided for in section 5 } \& \text { of the Customs Acts Amendment Act, 1930, or primage duty as provided for in section 4 of the Customs Acts Amendment Act, 1931, as the case may be, is payable } \& \text { in addition to the duties set out hereunder. } \end{aligned}$

$\begin{aligned}& \text { I T is hereby notified for general information that the Survey } \& \text { Board, in conjunction with the Australian Surveyors' Boards, } \& \text { will conduct an examination of candidates for registration as sur- } \& \text { veyors, commencing at 9 a.m. on Monday, 27th February, 1950, at } \& \text { Wellington. } \& \text { Candidates are notified that their applications, on the proper } \& \text { form, must reach the Secretary of the Board not later than Friday, } \& \text { 27th January, 1950, and that the examination fee must be paid at } \& \text { the same time to the Secretary, from whom application forms and } \& \text { other particulars may be obtained. } \& \text { Candidates presenting themselves for examination in any } \& \text { written subject or subjects may present themselves for examination } \& \text { at any Chief Surveyor's Office. } \& \text { The oral and practical portion of the examination cannot be } \& \text { taken until the candidate's term of indentureship has been completed. } \& \text { Candidates for the oral and practical portion of the examination } \& \text { must sit in Wellington. $\begin{aligned}& \text { WHEREAS I, the undersigned, the Public Trustee, have for } \& \text { the purposes of Part II of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 } \& \text { (relating to unclaimed lands), made due inquiry with respect to the } \& \text { lands described in the Schedule hereunder, and the whereabouts } \& \text { of the owner thereof, and have, in respect of the said lands, given } \& \text { the notices prescribed by section 66 of that Act and have in all } \& \text { respects complied with the provisions of that Act pertinent thereto: } \& \text { And whereas the owner has not established his title to the said lands } \& \text { as required by that Act, I hereby give notice that the said lands are } \& \text { under and by virtue of that Act vested in the Public Trustee as } \& \text { aforesaid as from the date of the publication hereof, and will be } \& \text { administered under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, the value of } \& \text { the lands for the purposes of section 67 (d) of that Act being less } \& \text { than five hundred pounds (£500). } \end{aligned}$
