MAORI LAND NOTICE
Tenders for Leases in the Karewa Township
Waikato-Maniapoto District Maori Land Board,
Auckland, 28th November, 1949.
NOTICE is hereby given in terms of the Maori Townships Act, 1910, and the regulations thereunder that written tenders are invited and will be received at the office of the Waikato-Maniapoto District Maori Land Board, Auckland, up to 4 o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 24th day of January, 1950, for lease of the undermentioned sections for a term of twenty-one years with right of renewal for a further term of twenty-one years.
SCHEDULE
SECTION 90, Block II, Karewa Maori Township, Kawhia. Area, 29 perches. Upset rental, £10.
Section 91, Block II, Karewa Maori Township, Kawhia. Area, 26 perches. Upset rental, £10.
Abstract of Terms and Conditions of Lease
(1) The terms of the lease shall be twenty-one years from the 1st February, 1950, with right of renewal of the lease for further term of twenty-one years at fair annual ground rents to be fixed in accordance with the terms of the lease.
(2) The lessee will pay all rates, taxes, &c.
(3) The lessee will keep the land free from noxious weeds.
(4) The lessee will keep all buildings, drains, and fences in good order and repair.
(5) The lessee will not carry on any offensive trade.
(6) The lessee will not assign or sublet without the previous consent, in writing, of the lessor.
(7) The lease will be in the form hereinafter referred to.
General Instructions to Tenderers
(1) Each section will be leased to the successful tenderer at the rental tendered by him which in no case will be less than the upset rental above.
(2) Every tender shall be enclosed in a sealed envelope addressed to the President of the Board, and marked on the outside as follows:—
“Tender for lease of Section.... Block.... Karewa Maori Township.”
(3) Tenders must be accompanied by six months’ rent, lease fee £2 2s., stamp duty 6s. 6d., and registration fee 10s. If any person desires to tender for more than one section, a separate tender for each section to be made. In the event of the two sections being included in the one lease, the excess fees will be refunded.
(4) The Board reserves the right to decline to accept any tender submitted without giving any reason therefor. Subject thereto the highest tenderer shall be declared the lessee of the section tendered for.
(5) Tenderers may tender either a higher rental than the upset rental for each lot or a lump sum for a lease at the upset rental.
Plans of the sections and forms of lease can be inspected at the office of the Under-Secretary for Maori Affairs, Wellington, or at the office of the Board, Auckland.

LAND TRANSFER ACT NOTICES
AN application having been lodged with me on behalf of the registered proprietor, His Majesty the King, to register the extinguishment of the right to use the water of the Owera River, reserved by Transfer 37990, affecting 217 acres 2 roods and 16 perches, being part Te Wairoa No. 1 Block, and being the residue of the land in certificate of title, Vol. 130, folio 274 (Auckland Registry), the grantee of the water-rights being (now) SAMUEL WALTER PERRY PEDDLE (deceased), of Whangapoua, Farmer, notice is hereby given of my intention to exercise my powers under section 3 of the Land Transfer Amendment Act, 1939, and register the extinguishment of the water-rights on 23rd January, 1950, unless good cause to the contrary be shown.
