Submarine Exercise Areas have been established as follows :-
North Limit. South Limit. East Limit. West Limit.
(a) Area "W" : 36° 17' S. 36° 24' S. 175° 13' E. 175° 03' E.
(b) Area "X" : 36° 17' S. 36° 24' S. 175° 22' E. 175° 13' E.
(c) Area "Y" : 36° 24' S. 36° 31' S. 175° 13' E. 175° 03' E.
(d) Area "Z" : 36° 33' S. 36° 40' S. 175° 17' E. 175° 03' E.

Warning signals in accordance with Admiralty Notice to
Mariners No. 8 of 1949, and reprinted on page 167 of the 1949 and
1950 editions of New Zealand Nautical Almanac and Tide Tables,
will be displayed whenever such exercises are held.

NEW ZEALAND-SOUTH ISLAND-SLOPE POINT
Light Established

Position : 098° 6·5 miles from Waipapa Point Lighthouse,
Chart No. 2553.
Abridged Description : Fl. 5 sec. 109 ft. 12 M (U).
Details : An unwatched white light (electric) showing one
flash every 5 seconds thus : Flash 0·4 secs. eclipse 4·5 secs. will be
exhibited on or about 20th November from a white steel cylindrical,
tower in the above position. Elevation, 109 ft.; height of tower,
9 ft.; visible from 268° through west and north to 098°.
Masters of vessels are requested to report on the efficiency of
this light.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICE

Land in the Canterbury Land District Acquired for a Permanent
State Forest

State Forest Service,
Wellington, 3rd November, 1949.

NOTICE is hereby given that the land described in the Schedule
hereto has been acquired under the Forests Act, 1921-22, for
the purposes of a permanent State forest.

SCHEDULE

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT-CANTERBURY CONSERVANCY
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, Kowai County,
containing by admeasurement 20 acres, more or less, being Rural
Section 1970, situated in Block X, Grey Survey District, and being
all the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Vol. 520,
folio 167, limited as to parcels (Canterbury Registry). As the same
is more particularly delineated on the plan No. 136/9, deposited in
the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and
thereon bordered red.

discharge on the expiration of fourteen days from the date of the
Gazette containing this notice.
