The first increment is granted after completion of one year's satisfactory service and after passing the Probationary Warders' Examination. On completion of twenty years' continuous permanent service a bonus of £10 will be awarded if so recommended by the Controller-General of Prisons.

(2) Deduction for quarters and rations as follows : Superintendent (Arohata), £45 per annum; Assistant Matrons (Arohata), £30 per annum; Matrons and Assistant Matrons (Auckland and Addington), £25 per annum. (3) Also free quarters. (4) Deduction from salary for residence or quarters provided. (5) When the maximum is reached, an increment of £15 may be granted to Warders of five years' service who have passed the Principal Warders' Examination if so recommended by the Controller-General of Prisons.
