Declaration of Result of Compulsory Military Training Poll
IN pursuance of the Military Training Poll Act, 1949, I hereby
give notice that, at the special general poll taken on Wednesday,
the 3rd August, 1949, under the provisions of the said Act, upon the
proposal that provision be made for compulsory military training,
the total number of vaild votes recorded throughout New Zealand
was as under, viz :-
Votes.
For the proposal .. .. .. 568,427
Against the proposal .. .. .. 160,998
I hereby declare that, as the total number of valid votes recorded
in favour of the proposal exceeds the total number of valid votes
recorded against the proposal, the determination of the electors is
deemed to be in favour of the proposal.

Notice to Persons Affected by Application For Licence Under
Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936
Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit
N. R. Brady, Kerikeri, has applied for a licence to resell motor-
spirit from one pump at carriers premises at Kerikeri.
Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be
materially affected by the decision of the Bureau of Industry on
this application should, not later than 1st September, 1949, submit
any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender.
All communications should be addressed to Secretary, Bureau of
Industry, C.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.

Pharmacy Industry
J. E. Stanton, care of Jacksons Pharmacy, Otorohanga, has
applied for a licence to operate a new pharmacy at Tokoroa.
Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit
B. G. V. White, Maungatapere Garage, Maungatapere, has
applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from two pumps to be
installed at garage premises at Maungatapere.
Mapua Transport, Limited, Mapua, has applied for a licence
to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed at garage premises
at Mapua.
F. H. A. Prior, Halcombe Garage, Feilding–Halcombe–Marton
Main Road, Halcombe, has applied for a licence to resell motor-
spirit from two pumps to be installed at garage premises at Halcombe.
R. H. Ufton, Main Foxton–Sanson Highway, Oroua Downs,
has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to
be installed at garage premises on Main Foxton–Sanson Highway,
Oroua Downs.
Jordan and Morrow, Tauranga Road, Ngongataha, have applied
for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed at
garage premises at Tauranga Road, Ngongataha.
Mitchell, Duncum, Limited, 162 Hastings Street, Napier, has
applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be
installed inside garage premises at 162 Hastings Street, Napier.
Pyne, Gould, Guiness, Limited, Leeston, has applied for a licence
to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on premises at
High Street, Leeston, and otherwise than through a pump from the
same premises.
B. H. Fletcher, Junction Store, Papamoa, has applied for a
licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on store
premises at Papamoa.
C. G. Jones-Pritchard, Whangaparoa Road, Silverdale R.D.,
has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to
be installed on proposed store premises at Silverdale R.D.
J. and S. E. Kyle, The Pines, Kairaki, have applied for a licence
to resell motor-spirit from two pumps to be installed on store premises
at The Pines, Kairaki.
F. C. Platt, Platt’s Motors, Otira Gorge, has applied for a
licence to resell motor-spirit from three pumps to be installed at
Otira Gorge Hotel, Otira Gorge.
Harwood and Kay, Limited, Rata Street, Inglewood, has
applied for permission to transfer licence in respect of three pumps
to a new site immediately opposite the present premises.
Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be
materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on
these applications should, not later than 8th September, 1949,
submit any written evidence and representations they may desire
to tender. All communications should be addressed to Secretary,
Bureau of Industry, C.P.O. Box 3025, Wellington.
