Kaitaia Drainage Area: Notice of Intention to Make and Levy General Rates
Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 16th July, 1949.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, to make and levy, on the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District Subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area constituted under the said Act, the general rate described in the First Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land in the subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area outside the Kaitaia Town District the general rates described in the Second Schedule, such respective rates being for the purpose of meeting maintenance costs for the period from 1st April, 1949, to 31st March, 1950.
The amount of the general rates, together with the annually recurring special rates already made and levied, will be payable in one sum on 30th August, 1949.
The valuation roll of the area will be available for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Room 15, First Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office of the Lands and Survey Department, Kaitaia, at all times at which these offices are open for the transaction of public business.
FIRST SCHEDULE
Town Subdivision
General Rate
On the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District, ninety-seven one-hundredths of a penny (0-97d.) in the pound.
SECOND SCHEDULE
Rural Subdivision
General Rate
CLASS A: On the unimproved value of all land classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act, 1928, eighteen pence and fifty-three one-hundredths of a penny (18.53d.) in the pound.
CLASS B: On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class B, sixpence and forty-nine one-hundredths of a penny (6.49d.) in the pound.
CLASS C: On the unimproved value of all land so classified as Class C, twopence and seventy-eight one-hundredths of a penny (2.78d.) in the pound.

The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice Declaring Land Taken for the Settlement of a Discharged Serviceman
WHEREAS an application has been made for the consent of the Land Valuation Court to a transaction which relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto and to which Part III of the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943, applies:
And whereas the Land Valuation Committee to which the application has been referred is of opinion that the land to which the application relates is farm land suitable or adaptable for the settlement of a discharged serviceman:
And whereas the said committee, not being satisfied that the Crown had decided not to acquire or arrange for the acquisition of the land, did on the 10th day of June, 1949, make an order determining the basic value of the land and no appeal from the said order was made within the time prescribed by the said Act or within any further time allowed by the Court:
And whereas the said land is not the land of any serviceman who is for the time being serving outside New Zealand in any of His Majesty's Forces or in any British ship:
Now, therefore, the Minister of Lands, acting in pursuance of section 51 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the said land is taken for the settlement of a discharged serviceman, and hereby specifies the 17th day of August, 1949, as the date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His Majesty the King.
SCHEDULE
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT
All that parcel of land situated in Block II, Purua Survey District, containing by admeasurement sixty (60) acres, more or less, being Allotment M. 115, Ruatangata Parish, and being all of the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 547, folio 237 (Auckland Registry), limited as to parcels.
Also all that parcel of land situated in Block II, Purua Survey District, containing by admeasurement sixty (60) acres, more or less, being Allotment 116 and Allotment S.W. 115, Ruatangata Parish, and being all of the land described in certificate of title, Vol. 545, folio 40 (Auckland Registry), limited as to parcels.
Also all that parcel of land containing by admeasurement twenty-one (21) acres, more or less, being allotment N.E. 115, Ruatangata Parish.

ALL that parcel of land containing by admeasurement three hundred and forty-five (345) acres, more or less, being Section 5 of Block VI, Waipu Survey District, and being all of the land described certificate of title, Vol. 895, folio 285 (Auckland Registry).
Also all that parcel of land containing by admeasurement two hundred and ninety-six (296) acres two (2) roods, more or less, being Section 3 of Block VI, Waipu Survey District, and being all of the land described in certificate of purchase registered in the Provisional Register, Vol. 196, folio 323 (Auckland Registry).

ALL that parcel of land containing by admeasurement one hundred and twenty-eight (128) acres two (2) roods sixteen (16) perches, more or less, being part Section 220, Block XIII, Kaniere Survey District, and being all of the land described in certificate of title Vol. 38, folio 232 (Westland Registry).

Notice of Intention to Take Land in Block XII, Town of Ranfurly, for a Courthouse
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a courthouse—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken in deposited in the post-office at Ranfurly and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.
