APPLICATION FOR A LICENCE FOR A WATER-RACE

UNDER THE MINING ACT, 1926

To the Warden of the Otago Mining District, at Naseby

Pursuant to the Mining Act, 1926, the undersigned, Alan Drummond McKinnon, of Invercargill, Conservator of Forests, on behalf of His Majesty the King, pursuant to section 97 of the above Act, hereby applies for a licence for a water-race, as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Precise time of marking out privilege applied for: 22nd June, 1949, at 2 p.m.

Date and number of miner’s right: 16th June, 1949, No. 83794, 7th December, 1948, No. 86718.

Address for service: Care of Messrs. Stevens and Mooney, P.O. Box 105, Alexandra.

Dated at Alexandra, this 29th day of June, 1949.

SCHEDULE

Locality of the race, and of its starting and terminal points; also description of land traversed—e.g., unalienated Crown land, private land, or otherwise: Commencing at a point in the East Eweburn in State Forest No. 93, Block V, Naseby Survey District, approximately 15 chains to the south-west from the siphon on the Mount Ida water-race running thence in a south-westerly direction generally through the said State Forest No. 93 in the said Block V, and also Block VI, Naseby Survey District, to a dam situated in the south-west corner of Section 17, Block VI, Naseby Survey District.

Length and intended course of race: 1½ miles south-westerly.

Points of intake: One in East Eweburn Stream.

Estimated time and cost of construction: Already constructed.

Mean depth and breadth: 1 ft. by 1 ft.

Number of heads to be diverted: One half-head.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Domestic.

Proposed term of licence: Twenty-one years.

OPUNAKE ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and of all other Acts and authorities it thereunto enabling the Opunake Electric-power Board hereby resolves as follows:—

“ That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of five thousand pounds (£5,000), authorized to be raised by the Opunake Electric-power Board under the above-mentioned Act for acquiring land, erecting dwellings, and purchasing land with dwellings thereon, the said Opunake Electric-power Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-twentieth of a penny (¹⁄₂₀d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the capital value) of all rateable property in the Opunake Electric-power District as at present constituted; and that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of the said loan and be payable yearly on the fourteenth day of June (14th June) in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of fifteen years (15 years) or until the loan is fully paid off.”
