Proclaiming the Borough of New Plymouth to be a City

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS a petition has been received from the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of New Plymouth praying that the said borough be proclaimed a city under the provisions of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933:

And whereas the population of the said borough is not less than twenty thousand:

And whereas it is desirable that effect should be given to the said petition:

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-four of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, do hereby proclaim the Borough of New Plymouth to be a city.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 21st day of January, 1949.

Domain Board Appointed to Have Control of the Heathcote Domain

At the Government House at Wellington, this 26th day of January, 1949

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section forty-four of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby appoint

Norris Arthur Collins,
Ronald Henry Alfred Connolly,
John Everett Evans,
William Baillie Laing,
Cecil Darnley Noonan,
George William Scott, and
John Somerville Scott

to be the Heathcote Domain Board, having control of the land described in the Schedule hereto; and doth hereby appoint Monday, the thirty-first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and forty-nine, at eight o’clock p.m., as the time when, and the Bowling Club Pavilion, Heathcote, as the place where, the first meeting of the Board shall be held.

SCHEDULE

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—HEATHCOTE DOMAIN

ALL that area containing by admeasurement 14 acres 2 roods 34·2 perches, more or less, being part of Reserve 3839, Block XVI Christchurch Survey District, and bounded as follows: Towards the north generally by Lot 11, Deposit Plan 9873, 480·8 links, 588·55 links, and 347·25 links, towards the east by Lot 1, Deposit Plan 4499, 1726·74 links, towards the south by Lot 1, Deposit Plan 10878, 987·8 links, and towards the west by Port Hills Road 1299·75 links, save and except the intersecting Bridle Path Road. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1/437A, deposited in Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
