Hauraki Plains Drainage Area.—Notice of Intention to Make and Levy Rates

Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 16th June, 1949.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the Hauraki Plains Act, 1926, to make and levy, on the unimproved value of all land within the district constituted under the said Act, the general rates to meet maintenance costs for the period Ist April, 1949, to 31st March, 1950, as described in the Schedule hereto.

The amount of such rates will be payable in one sum on the 19th July, 1949.

The valuation roll of the district is open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer’s Office, Room 15, Ist Floor, Government Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the Land Drainage Office of the Ministry of Works at Kerepeehi, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.

SCHEDULE
CLASS A.—On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the appraiser appointed under the said Act, sevenpence and fifty-seven one-hundredths of a penny (7·57d.) in the pound.
CLASS B.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B, fourpence and thirty-three one-hundredths of a penny (4·33d.) in the pound.
CLASS C.—On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, one penny and eight one-hundredths of a penny (1·08d.) in the pound.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the City of Timaru, taken on the 8th day of June, 1949, on the proposal of the Timaru City Council to borrow the sum of £24,000 for Northern Extension (Drainage and Street Improvement) Loan, 1948—
Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was .. 261
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 248
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
