on and from the 29th day of March, 1949.

section 27 of the said Act, doth hereby declare that the land described
in the said Second Schedule is taken for the settlement of discharged
servicemen, and hereby specifies the 3rd day of June, 1949, as the
date on which the said land shall be deemed to be vested in His
Majesty the King.

six hundred and seventy-two (1,672) acres three (3) roods twenty
to be Acting Registrar of Marriages and of Births and Deaths for
decimal five (20·5) perches, more or less, being Section 31, Block
VIIIA, Waimata Survey District, and part of Sections 30 and 32
and Lot 2 on Deposited Plan No. 3778, part of Section 33, Block V,
Whangara Survey District, and being part of the land described
in certificate of title, Vol. 99, folio 48 (Gisborne Registry).
As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked
Proc. 3028, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands
and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.
As witness my hand, this 31st day of May, 1949.

The Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943.—Notice
Declaring Land Taken for the Settlement of Discharged
Servicemen
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 24 of the Servicemen's Settle-
ment and Land Sales Act, 1943, notice was given of the
intention of the Minister of Lands to take under Part II of the
said Act the land described in the First Schedule hereto, and a
copy of the said notice was published in the New Zealand Gazette
No. 12 on the 4th day of March, 1948, at page 248 :
And whereas no objection was made in the manner prescribed
by the said Act, objecting to the taking of the said land :
And whereas the owners have agreed to the varying of the
area to be taken and have consented to the taking of the lands
described in the Second Schedule hereto :
And whereas the Land Sales Committee did on the 6th day
of May, 1948, make an order determining that the land described
in the said Second Schedule is farm land suitable or adaptable for
the settlement of two or more discharged servicemen :
