THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE

The Council may, subject to the provisions of section 171 of the Harbours Act, 1923, erect or licence or permit the erection of bathing-sheds or boat-sheds on the foreshore described in the First Schedule hereto, and may make by-laws regulating the use thereof, and may fix charges for such use : Provided that the funds so received shall be expended in improving the foreshore for the benefit of the public.

Nothing herein contained shall authorize the Council to remove or cause to be removed any stone, sand, shingle, or shells without the consent of the Minister being first obtained.

By-laws made by the Council under the said Act in respect of the foreshore shall not have effect, unless and until approved in writing by the Minister.

The rights, powers, and privileges conferred by or under this Order in Council shall continue to be in force for twenty-one years from the 22nd day of May, 1949, unless in the meantime such rights, powers, and privileges shall be altered, modified, or revoked by competent authority.

The said rights, powers, and privileges may be at any time resumed by the Governor-General, without payment of any compensation whatever, on giving to the Council six calendar months' previous notice in writing. Any such notice shall be sufficient if given by the Minister, and delivered at or posted to the last-known address of the Council in New Zealand.

Revoking the Declaration of Main Highways and Declaring Public Highways to be Main Highways

THE RIGHT HON. P. FRASER PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section three of the Main Highways Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anyway enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that, on and after the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and forty-nine, the main highways described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highways, that the main highway described in the Second Schedule hereto shall cease to be a main highway on and after the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and forty-eight, and doth further declare that on and from the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and forty-nine, the roads described in the Third Schedule shall be main highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the Main Highways Act, 1922.
FIRST SCHEDULE
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 2B
Auckland-Hamilton.—All that main highway in the counties of Manukau, Franklin, Waikato, and Waipa, declared as the Auckland-Hamilton Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd October, 1940, and published in the Gazette on 10th October, 1940.
Hamilton—Te Kuiti.—All that main highway in the Counties of Waipa and Otorohanga, declared as the Hamilton—Te Kuiti Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 13th November, 1940, and published in the Gazette on 21st November, 1940.
Hamilton-Rotorua.—All that main highway in the Counties of Waikato and Matamata, declared as the Hamilton-Rotorua Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd October, 1940, and published in the Gazette on 10th October, 1940.
SECOND SCHEDULE
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 9B
Masterton-Wellington.—All that main highway in the Borough of Upper Hutt, declared as the Masterton-Wellington Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd October, 1940, and published in the Gazette on 10th October, 1940.
THIRD SCHEDULE
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 2B
Auckland-Hamilton.—All that road or portion of road in the Counties of Manukau, Franklin, Waikato, and Waipa, commencing at the southern boundary of Otahuhu Borough at the northern end of the Tamiki River Bridge and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction, but excluding those portions in Mount Wellington Road District, the Boroughs of Ellerslie, Manurewa, Papakura, Huntly, and Ngaruawahia, and the Town District of Papatoetoe, and terminating at southern side of Vardon Road at the intersection of Vardon Road with the Great South Road at the north boundary of the City of Hamilton, being a distance of 57 miles 19 chains, more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on Plan P.W.D. 107355, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue and green.
Hamilton - Te Kuiti.—All that road or portion of road in the Counties of Waipa and Otorohanga, commencing at the intersection of Peacock's Road with the Great South Road at the southern boundary of the City of Hamilton, and proceeding thence generally in a southerly and south-westerly direction, but excluding those portions in the Te Awamu'u Borough and the Otorohanga Town District, and terminating at the Otorohanga County southern boundary, being a distance of 36 miles 73 chains, more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on Plan P.W.D. 107355, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
Hamilton-Rotorua.—All that road or portion of road in the Counties of Waikato and Matamata, commencing at approximately 3·5 chains east of the eastern intersection of Hooper's Road with the Hamilton-Rotorua highway at the eastern boundary of the City of Hamilton, and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction, but excluding that portion in Cambridge Borough, and terminating at the Matamata County eastern boundary, being a distance of 48 miles 76 chains, more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on Plan P.W.D. 107355, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green and blue.

Temp. Captain D. C. M. Baker is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, with the rank of Captain, with seniority from 1st May, 1942. Dated 1st May, 1949.
THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS
Territorial Force-
Temp. Major P. A. Barton, from the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Major, with seniority from 1st December, 1945, and is appointed 2 i/c, 2nd Armoured Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C. Dated 1st December, 1948.
Major I. T. Galloway, from the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Major, with seniority from 24th October, 1947, and is posted to the 1st Divisional Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C. (New Zealand Scottish). Dated 1st December, 1948.
Temp. Captain L. W. Colmore-Williams, M.C., 1st Armoured Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C. (Waikato) is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 2nd Armoured Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C., with the rank of Captain, with seniority from 17th September, 1944. Dated 1st May, 1949.
