Frequency calling 2182 kc/s.
Frequency working 2162 kc/s.
Watches: On working days watch will be kept for fifteen minutes commencing at 0800, 1130, 1330, 1600.
All other times when a vessel is expected listening watch will be set one hour before expected (or reported) time of arrival.

Notice to Mariners No. 22 of 1949

NEW ZEALAND.—SOUTH ISLAND.—OTAGO HARBOUR
Existence of Submarine Telephone Cable
Position: Lat. 45° 51′ 42″ S.; long. 170° 34′ 03″ E.
Details: A submarine cable has been laid commencing at position (1) above in a 098° direction for 790 ft.; thence 125° 600ft.; thence 132° to the southern shore.
Remarks: Anchorage is prohibited within the following lines :—
(a) Commencing 2,000 ft. 035° from position (1) above in a 142° direction to the southern shore.
(b) Commencing 900 ft. 224° from position (1) above in a 127° direction to the southern shore.
The route of the cable across Victoria Channel is indicated by rectangular boards bearing black and white stripes situated on piles No. 21 red and black.

The Standards Act, 1941.—The Board of Trade (Meat Grading) Regulations 1943
NOTICE is hereby given that on 13th May, 1949, the undermentioned specification was declared to be a standard specification pursuant to section 8 of the Standards Act, 1941 :—
N.Z.S.S. 681 Grades of meat for sale on the local market and definitions of joints and cuts.
This standard specification supersedes the New Zealand Emergency Standard Specification of the same title bearing date July, 1943, and numbered N.Z.S.S. E. 79, which is cited in the Board of Trade (Meat Grading) Regulations 1943*, and incorporates amendments Nos. 1-4 gazetted previously, and two further amendments (Nos. 5 and 6) notice of which is hereby given. N.Z.S.S. 681, including amendments Nos. 1-6, shall come into force in the application of the said regulations in substitution for N.Z.S.S. E. 79 with amendments, on the 1st day of June, 1949.
Copies of N.Z.S.S. 681 may be obtained from the New Zealand Standards Institute, Hamilton Chambers, 201 Lambton Quay, Wellington. Price, 2s. 6d. a copy, post free. Each person who has already purchased a copy of N.Z.S.S. E. 79 is entitled to a copy of amendments Nos. 5 and 6 free of charge.

The Standards Act, 1941.—Amendment of Standard Specification
NOTICE is hereby given that, on 4th May, 1949, the undermentioned standard specification was amended by the Minister of Industries and Commerce by the incorporation of Amendment No. 4, dated May, 1949 :—
N.Z.S.S. 169 : Classification and Grading of New Zealand Building Timber (National Grading Rules).
Copies of the standard specification, with amendments, may be obtained from the New Zealand Standards Institute, Hamilton Chambers, 201 Lambton Quay, Wellington C. 1, price 2s. a copy, post free. Copies of the amendment will be supplied free of charge to all purchasers of the standard specification.

D. H. Bruce, Paremata, has applied for permission to transfer four pumps to a new site 150 yards north of the present site on the Main Road at Paremata.
Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than 2nd June, 1949, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender.
