The Land and Income Tax (Annual) Act, 1948.—Income-tax Payable
IN accordance with Order in Council dated 13th October, 1948, issued under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923, and the Land and Income Tax (Annual) Act, 1948, I hereby notify that the income-tax leviable under section 3 of the latter Act is payable at any office of the Land and Income Tax Department or at any money-order post-office in one sum on Wednesday, the 9th February, 1949, and that 5 per cent. additional tax accrues if not paid by 2nd March, 1949. Liability is not suspended by any objection, and tax must be paid by the prescribed date to avoid the additional percentage; any overpayment will be refunded.
Demands will be issued on or about 2nd February, 1949, and must be presented with all payments. Taxpayers who do not receive an expected demand should communicate with the Superintendent of the office of the Land and Income Tax Department where their records are filed.

Claims for Registration of School Colours

THE following claim for registration of school colours, &c., has been made in accordance with the regulations published in the New Zealand Gazette on the 12th August, 1915, and amendments thereto.
The claim will be registered unless objection is received by me within forty days of the publication hereof.
S. STEPHEN'S SCHOOL
Colours
Tie : Alternative horizontal ⅜ in. bands of black and gold.
Stockings : Black with two ⅜ in. horizontal gold bands on turnover.
Badge
Three gold stars on a black shield, the whole surmounted by a mitre in gold. A scroll surrounding lower portion of shield and bearing the words "S. Stephen's School, Bombay."

Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925.—Proposed Cancellation of Registration of Industrial Union

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to and in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 22 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925, the registration of the Auckland Gardeners, Gardeners' Labourers, and Greenkeepers' Industrial Union of Workers, registered number 1856, situated at Auckland, will, unless cause to the contrary is shown, be cancelled at the expiration of six weeks from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette.

CROWN LANDS NOTICE
Land in Wellington Land District for Selection on Optional Tenures
District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, 18th January, 1949.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned property is open for selection on optional tenures under the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, up to 3 o'clock p.m. on Friday, 18th March, 1949.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, on Wednesday, 23rd March, 1949, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands. Applicants are required to produce evidence of their financial position and farming experience.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants, and the successful applicant is required to pay immediately at conclusion of ballot a deposit comprising the first half-year's rent or deposit on deferred payments, broken-period rent, lease fee, and amount of weighting for improvements. Possession of the property will be given on 1st April, 1949.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT
Waimarino County.—Moawhango Survey District
PART Section 7, Block IX : Area, 48 acres 3 roods 12·6 perches. Rental value or purchase-price, £50. Deposit on deferred payments, £5 : Half-yearly instalment on deferred payments (term : ten years), £2 16s. 9d. Renewable lease (thirty-three years): Half-yearly rent, £1 2s. 6d.
Weighted with £500 (payable in cash) for improvements, comprising old dwelling of 1,296 square feet (estimated life, ten years), cow-shed of 700 square feet (six bails), some small sheds, fencing (in poor condition), grassing and clearing, and Pinus insignis and macrocarpa plantations.
This property is situated at the junction of the Waiouru-Tokaanu-Taupo and Waiouru-Taumarunui Highways, in close proximity to Waiouru Military Camp and the Public Works Camp. Flat to undulating country; broom has taken control of half the area, and the balance is run-out pasture. The property is uneconomic, and when fully developed would carry in vicinity of eighteen to twenty cows, but only after a number of years of consolidation and top-dressing ; could be best utilized for casual grazing or as a supply farm for the Military and Public Works Camps.
Special Condition
Movable chattels in the nature of milking-plant and engine, shafting, water-pump, piping and tanks, pumice copper, scalding-tubs, and cream-cans, &c., are the property of the former lessee, who has the right to remove same if not purchased by the incoming tenant.
