Setting Apart Maori Land as a Maori Reservation

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington, this 2nd day of
March, 1949
Present:
His Excellency The Governor-General in Council
Pursuant to section five of the Maori Purposes Act, 1937,
His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby set
apart and reserve the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule
hereto as a Maori reservation for the common use of the members
of the Muaupoko Tribe as a site for a meeting-house.

SCHEDULE
All that piece or parcel of land containing 1 acre 3 roods 8 perches,
more or less, being part of Horowhenua XIb 36, Section 2L 4A
Block, bounded on the north-west by a line commencing at the
south-western corner of the said block running north-easterly on a
bearing of 33° for a distance of 647.85 links; thence south-easterly
on a bearing of 123° for a distance of 277.84 links; thence south-
westerly on a bearing of 213° for a distance of 647.85 links ; thence
north-westerly on a bearing of 303° for a distance of 277.84 links
to the point of commencement, being part of the land comprised
and described in Certificate of Title, Volume 229, folio 149 (Wellington
Registry).

Varying an Order in Council Prohibiting Alienation of Certain Maori
Lands or Lands Owned by Maoris

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington, this 2nd day of
March, 1949
Present:
His Excellency The Governor-General In Council
Pursuant to section one hundred and sixty-seven of the
Maori Land Act, 1931, His Excellency the Governor-General,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council,
doeth hereby vary an Order in Council made on the fourth day of
April, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, and published
in the Gazette on the seventh day of April, one thousand nine hundred
and thirty-two, at page 735, and affecting Hauturu East B 2
Section 2A 1A and other blocks, by excluding therefrom the lands
described in the Schedule hereto.

Officer Authorized to Attest Signatures of Maoris to Instruments Under the Chattels Transfer Act, 1924

Pursuant to section five hundred and forty-seven of the
Maori Land Act, 1931, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard
Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that
Donald Matheson Finlayson, Field Supervisor, Whangarei,
being an officer in the service of the Crown, is authorized to attest,
in accordance with the provisions of the said section five hundred
and forty-seven, the signatures of Maoris to instruments by way
of security within the meaning of the Chattels Transfer Act, 1924.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General
this 25th day of February, 1949.

Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that
Donald Matheson Finlayson, Field Supervisor, Whangarei,
being an officer in the service of the Crown, is authorized to attest,
in accordance with the provisions of the said section two hundred
and sixty-eight, the signatures of Maoris to instruments of alienation
of Maori land.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General
this 25th day of February, 1949.

Pursuant to the authority conferred upon me by the three-
hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act,
1927, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby
notify and declare that the persons whose names are set out in the
Schedule hereto, being officers in the service of the Crown holding
the offices stated opposite their names respectively in the said
Schedule, are authorized to take and receive statutory declarations
under the three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the
Peace Act, 1927.

Pursuant to the authority conferred upon me by the three-
hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act,
1927, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby
notify and declare that Clarence Benjamin Charles Salvin, being an
officer in the service of the Crown holding the office of Accountant,
State Advances Corporation at Wellington, is authorized to take
and receive statutory declarations under the three-hundred-and-
first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 7th day of March, 1949.

Officer Authorized to Execute Documents on Behalf of the Rehabilitation Board

Pursuant to section eighteen of the Rehabilitation Amendment
Act, 1944, and pursuant to a request made to me by the
Rehabilitation Board in this behalf, I, Lieutenant-General Sir
Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of
New Zealand, do hereby authorize the officer of the Public Service
whose name is set out in the Schedule hereto to execute, on behalf
of the Rehabilitation Board, deeds and other documents being
agreements relating to the hire and purchase of tools of trade and
other chattels supplied to persons undergoing training at a rehabili-
tation trade-training centre.
