Notice by the Public Trustee Under the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, Part III, and its Amendments

WHEREAS it has been reported to the Public Trustee that an unknown holder of debentures in New Zealand Theatres, Limited, is the owner of the following property, the gross value of which is less than £1,000, namely :—

Cash representing proceeds of debentures and interest ... ... ... ... ... £ s. d. 65 0 0 Nine “ A ” preference shares in New Zealand Theatres, Limited, value ... ... ... ... 5 0 0 70 0 0

And whereas New Zealand Theatres, Limited, in 1930 issued bearer debentures for fifty pounds (£50) with interest coupons attached, to some person, but the said company has no record of the name or address of the said person: And whereas by an order of the Court of Review dated the 19th day of December, 1938, the liabilities of the said company were adjusted, and as a result the debenture-holders became entitled to receive part of the value of their bearer debentures in registered perpetual debenture stock and the balance in "A" preference shares: And whereas the said unknown holder of £50 bearer debentures did not, in response to the advertisements published by the said company at that time, surrender his debentures in return for debenture stock and "A" preference shares or make any claim against the company: And whereas on the 3rd day of November, 1946, the said company redeemed the debenture stock by paying off all debenture stock holders with interest to that date, and as a result the sum of £65 is payable to the said unknown debenture-holder entitled to the said debenture stock: And whereas it is not known who is the owner of the above-mentioned sum of £65 or the nine "A" preference shares in New Zealand Theatres, Limited: And whereas it is provided by Part III of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (relating to unclaimed property), as amended by section 41 of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1921–22, that where the value of unclaimed real and personal property does not exceed £1,000 the Public Trustee (with the consent of the Public Trust Office Board) may, by notice in the Gazette, declare his intention to take possession of such property and exercise the powers conferred upon him by section 87 of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, without application to the Court: And whereas the said consent of the Public Trust Office Board has been duly given:

Now, the Public Trustee hereby gives notice that he intends to take possession of the above-mentioned property and to exercise in respect thereof the powers conferred upon him in and by the provisions of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908.

Notice to Persons Affected by Applications for Licences Under Part III of the Industrial Efficiency Act, 1936

Manufacture of Footwear

R. J. Cummings and L. J. Day, 79 Cashel Street, Christchurch, have applied for an extension of their existing licence so as to permit the manufacture of women's woolly slippers.

Pharmacy Industry

Hutt Valley Associated Chemists, Ltd., 79 High Street, Lower Hutt, has applied for a licence to operate an "after-hour" pharmacy at 79 High Street, Lower Hutt.

Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit

O. C. White, Mount Roskill Motors, corner of Dominion and Mount Albert Roads, Mount Roskill, Auckland, has applied for a licence to operate the Mount Roskill Service Station at the corner of Dominion and Mount Albert Roads, Mount Roskill.

Murgatroyd's Rental Cars, Ltd., Harrington Street, Tauranga, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on premises at Harrington Street, Tauranga.

C. Rugg, Tokoroa, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump already installed on garage premises at Tokoroa.

J. A. and G. C. Sayers, Sayers Bros., Swansea Road South, Stratford, have applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump already installed on garage premises at Swansea Road South, Stratford.

W. C. Collinson, Ryal Bush, Southland, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on garage premises at Ryal Bush, Southland.

C. H. Campbell, Ltd., Broadway, Marton, has applied for permission to shift one pump from its present position inside garage premises at Broadway, Marton, to a site outside.

Lane Motor Boat Co., Quay Street East, Auckland, has applied for permission to transfer the motor-spirits retail licence in respect of two pumps from premises in Quay Street East, Auckland, to premises at Riverview Road, Panmure, Auckland.

Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than 9th December, 1948, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender.
